Logan by Matt Greenbury

[raw]
made by Matt Greenbury for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Had reuploaded the game because i didn't pre-load the sound for html so people with slow net couldn't hear anything -no ingame files where altered it still is complete in all its LD glory with its bugs in tact

Logan represent my first game ever completed and will be a memorable experience as I look back on my first jam. Israel James Handled the sound design for the game.

It's a short game that follows a guy named Logan, make of it what you will. There's still a few bugs in it and its not polished but enjoy. screen2.PNG

*if someone wants its exe for mac, linux or windows just ask and I will compile. I didnt upload them due to net issues atm.

Atmospheric. I like to visual style. I didn't get too far, I didn't like having to watch the intro again when I died (was too slow, needs a "skip").

I really liked the mood, very atmospheric, sound was also quite cool and the art had good elements. The intro is a bit too long and it's very easy to die so it makes it difficult to advance in the game. The jump needs a bit of work. Congrats on your first game!

The graphic style is amazing! Reminds games straight from the 80s

good job, but the fighting is little bit weird, because I couldn't figure out how to deal damage to the little "pill" guy without taking damage too. He runs faster than you do. Also it was kinda annoying to play again from the start when you died

Really enjoyed the game. Loved the weird coronavirus in the background. One thing I did not enjoy was the character's attack. It's probably up there with Dr. Jeckyll and Mr Hyde for NES as far as game character attacks go...

Awesome graphics and sound and great mood. Congrats!

Nice and moody game with neat visuals, I couldn't get to the third stage but I could tell there was going to be an interesting story, have some "fan theories" already made. nice game.

LOVE this dark sort of look. I don't think I got that far though. Couldn't figure out how to attack by the time I met the reaper. When I first learned how to jump the spacebar would force my browser to scroll down which was a funny way to die- the second time around I avoided this by fullscreening. STILL, awesome visuals, awesome music. Very cool.

Loved the graphics and mood. The audio also really added to the game. I think the gameplay could use some overall improvements, but nice job.

Hmm... this was very interesting entry. First let's focus on pros:
- very nice mood. literally wanted me to know the whole story but I guess most important points are well introduced.
- loved the art style, monochromatic palette is great
- every character and cutscenes are great, they setup the mood perfectly
- Nice mechanic of being "electrocuted" but it's also a cons sometimes

Now what could be done better (IMHO)
- first issue and probably MOST important as it disencouraged me to finish the game: no checkpoints or something similar (as a player I can't stand watching the same sequences for a third time I always give second chance but rarely third)
- gameplay controls: jumping could be done a bit more responsive there are few tutorials how to achieve good jump

To sum up: It's very good atmospheric game with interesting story and well made graphics. It lacks some gameplay polishing and CHECKPOINT or at least skip CUTSCENE feature.

In overall GOOD JOB!

Awesome visuals and game, but really needs the option to skip the intro, maybe only after the first try.

I like the style and that game controls are explained within the game world. What actually unfortunately kept me from playing till the end is that it is not possible to skip the intro/tutorial.

I love the black and white art style. The audio sounded good with the creepy atmosphere. The game tutorial was a too slow (especially because you have too replay the tutorial after you die). Over all good job and keep it up!

* game loading very long. some minutes.
* on start you need add some timeout: if you click statr some times - it works every time, you get two, three or ten start sound at once.
* very short

good graphics and music! )

Really nice music. Gameplay is a bit stiff and it's frustrating to get a "game over" upon falling though :/ Congrats releasing your first game!

I think I got pretty far, but there was no checkpoint and I got reset all the way to the beginning when I fell down. Maybe you could add a checkpoint at the start of the combat part or even a couple of checkpoints. I like the atmosphere, but the movement is a bit stiff. Some checkpoints would go a long way, and really isn't an issue to implement eventhough the rating period isn't over yet.

The intro reminds me a bit of Sartres 'No exit'. The mood is really ominous. I never managed to figure out what to do after activating the radio-machine-thingy so I suspect that I'm missing out on most of the game. Good job anyway!
