PLEASE NOTE: the Play button currently will not render but it is in the middle I promise. I have also been told there are other bugs with the UI. If you have any please let me know so I can try to find a fix.

At sometime in their life, everyone has played a game with a balloon, where the goal is to keep it from touching the ground. I've made a 100% true to life video game version. In Unnamed Balloon Game: Video Game Edition you play as a child with his newly created friend, Balloony. Unfortunately it's a dangerous world out there and you have to keep Balloony from popping. Good Luck!

This is my first Ludum Dare!

Bugs fixed post deadline: - player getting stuck in the spin cycle and being unable to jump - moved the score meter UI down to prevent it from being cropped off in some browsers - fixed spelling on game over screen

Really loved it man :). The physics to the balloon are perfect. The main character was animated beautifully as well. The voice over's were funny XD. A little more variety to the audio would be nice but overall I absolutely enjoyed it dude. Well done

Great job on this one. Killed it on the art and the voice acting.

The voice acting is awesome, I love your raspy voice, makes him sound like a hardened mercenary or something, who is grieving over the loss of their balloon and playing games in their lounge room. Nice!

Nice work dude. You got so much polish on this, which makes it enjoyable to play. Graphics and audio were great, and the voice acting with varying lines was an awesome touch.

Fantastic take on a game I used to play endlessly as a child whilst running around the house causing chaos. Voiceovers are amazing and really make the game! I never managed to get it to hit the fan, but does it destroy the balloon if you do?

@sami Thanks for the play! yes the fan does pop balloony. I meant for that to be more of a hazard but put it too high.

Definitely a cool game! Very relatable since we all used to play this back in the day! You managed to make a fun game with very limited level design and I applaud you for that, good job man. I hope you keep doing jams, this game is very addictive and perfect for jams!

Cool game ! Now I have to go find balloons because my kid saw this and wants to play it "in real life". Great job. Voice acting is brave, it's a weird mix between the concept and the scary voice, but it seems to work just fine. Well done, thanks for making this ! :) Welcome to the LD Family !

I have never felt so sad about a ballon. The dialogue really pulls this one together. Great job!

Hey there! Loved this concept. I do wish that the game had a quick restart. The dialog after the balloon popped was way too long between runs and I really wanted to just keep trying to beat my highscore. Did get the balloon to pop on the fan which was a nice addition.

I played a few times - damn chair kept getting in the way. Love it though! Very charming. My only wish is that I could restart quicker. Well done on your first Ludum Dare too! :balloon:

looking at the graphics and the idea of this game i thought that it was going to be really really bad... but after a bit of time with it it really grown on me, geting a score of 112 before finishing. biggist probblem is a mix of the graphics and sounds really, everything feels very much unpolished also a masive probblem is the fact you have to wait for dialog to finish before starting a game and wait for it after you died, it should have been a lot quicker. overall it was very much a fun little hidden gem.

thanks for the feedback @reddashgames! the quick restart its definitely the biggest complaint I get and a pretty obvious oversight on my part. I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

It was definitely fun! The ceiling fan killing the balloon was a nice touch, though it was very hard to actually get the balloon to hit it. Making the fan a little lower could have increased the difficulty. The music was simple, but was a bop. The track doesn't loop into itself well though, there's a hard stop, but overall the loop doesn't really get tiring while playing.

I played this earlier but forgot to leave a comment! This is one of most humorous ones I've played so far this LD, the voice over made me lol. I thought I had the upper hand and then the ceiling fan ruined my life- that was a great addition though! Great job, Seeker!

Easy and fairly small concept, but executed very well. So well that I kept playing for a high score multiple times. Audio worked quite nicely and those ending dialogues were a definite highlight for me! :)

Fun game!

Great job! I also patricipated the first time on Ludum Dare this year! I like how the game brings back child memories with your comments. It would have been great if there were also additional random comments he says when you manage to keep the balloon alive a long time. And maybe some goals the player can get extra points from, a basketball net or something at one side of the room, or a room on the side with Dads workbench and a lot of pointy things that gives you more points but is a more dangerous environment :) I like the game a lot especially for your very first one! Great job and hope to see something from you in October again!

I had fun with it :) The physics were implemented well and trying to somehow find a way to optimize the score by doing as least as possible kept it fund for a little while longer. The voice overs were a nice touch to add to the absurd conecept. The art was polished and fit very well with the rest of the game.

All in all, a rather short lived, but fun little skill based "keep the ball up" game.

I really liked this game. The sound effect of hitting the balloon was really nice, the voiceovers were also really nice and pretty funny. It could be harder though, it's pretty easy to keep the balloon from hitting the fan and the floor. I really liked the art though. Good game overall, much better than what I made lmfao.

Haha, I enjoyed your voice acting. "Nooooohh, balloony!"

Nice game, I enjoyed playing, it is quite addictive! Still I only got till 47, so far. I think it would be nice to show the highscore of the player in the end screen. I would have liked an easier restart option, one that doesn't require a mouse.

Also, it seems we had a similar idea. :)

@1punnyguy44: I do see the current score at the end of the game, but not my overall highscore.
