Ammodillo by Jeremy Ryan

A bullet hell where you start with no bullets.
The king seeks a worthy opponent. Play as Gunther, an aspiring gladiator, and fight your way through his trials to prove your worth to the kingdom.
Victory won't be easy, of course. Due to a clerical error, all combatants except you were provided weapons. You'll have to do your best with just your wit and armadillo-like reflexes.

The theme was quite a difficult one so the fact you tuned it into a mechanic that serves an actual purpose in the time limit is really impressive. Great back-forth gameplay.
My only real gripe is with the enemies. Having them follow you means all the bullets come from one place which isn't the best IMO, plus it gives you very little wiggle room. Plus a lack of indicators for when they attack feels a little bit unfair. Having more warning could lead to more thoughtful gameplay. Having them fly down onto the arena might solve the other issue.
Overall though, fantastic entry. Plays great, sounds great and art looks great, especially for 48 hours. Perhaps try experimenting with having the rollout stun the enemies, could add an extra layer of strategy plus it feels a bit odd to have the player roll over the enemy with no interaction.
@brandon-js-lea Thanks for the feedback! I agree that it feels a little bad that the enemies tend to bunch up, and given more time I definitely would have made more variations to that. **There is a "boss" on Wave 5** whose movement is a little more varied ;)
I think the border of the stage could just be a normal wall rather than a bouncy boundary. A short tutorial or key prompts would've been great as I didn't know I had to block bullets to gain them.
Definitely one of the most fun games I've seen / played so far!!
Some ideas to improve the gamefeel:
- Graphical indicators when ennemies will shoot
- Zoom in or out to always see player and all ennemies
- maybe decrease cooldown between dodges a little bit
Loved the game! Good luck with the ratings
2. Fine music.
3. Magnificent idea.
However, roll doesn't feel as a roll it's short and slow. Also, speed of enemies projectiles are too fast to catch. And enemies needs some indications of attack. Anyway, great work. Well done.
Some polishes include an easier way to aim the dodge roll, as that proved to be the hardest thing to learn in the game. Some foreshadowing on the attack patterns would have been nice as well. Overall, strongly enjoyed the experience!
