END WITH FIRE by ArithiPathic

[raw]
made by ArithiPathic for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Start with nothing... end with fire! This is a simple dungeon crawler in which you start in darkness, and must navigate by sound instead of sight. Darkness IS the enemy in this game, and the dungeon will find ways to keep you in the dark. Don't let it!

NOTE: You'll want sound on while playing.

Tools (learned both Phaser and Tiled for jam):

A game by Sarah Peterson

Music and sounds by Kyle Wynn

Unfortunately I'm unable to play. I can't get out of the opening intro screen.

cool idea I loved the art, at one point I felt like I was stuck tho, I was getting hit by a skull over and over and could not move, turns out I was running the wrong way the message was confusing me, I thought I could not move because the skull was hitting me when I was just stuck in a few walls and had to find the right way to go.

Score of 91, there was one fire I found that wasn't lighting the area next to it, but I was still able to collect it. Interesting idea and a good use of the theme.

Nice idea !
For me at least using R to restart didn't stop the music, resulting in multiple instances of the music running at the same time, which made it a bit hard to locate the fire hahaha

Really nice work on this one! I really liked the music and the sound effect, the artwork is quite nice, and overall I think this is a really cool concept executed really well :)

I really love the concept behind this one, though the level design feels a bit unfair. After the first playthrough, I had to just give up and reset because I fell in enough pits and the death 'pellets' kept me stuck in an infinite point loss loop.

On the second try, however, I was able to use knowledge of the previous playthrough to find all (or a lot) of the torches. I like the dance at the end, and again the concept is fun.

I also liked the idea of leading the player at the start by putting them in darkness with the only visible way forward at the corner where you first find a torch. However, maybe don't block that first torch with walls because it's very easy to get stuck, lost, and frustrated.

A great concept though!
