made by JaumeMontagut for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Nothing to grab onto is a puzzle game where at the start, there's nothing to grab onto.

You are an alien astronaut and you've lost all your crew. You'll need to lauch yourself to little planets until you find something something to grab onto, the stars will be your friends.

Changelog:

V.3 - After building, we found a bug in the build that didn't happen while we were developing on the editor, the player didn't stick to moving cubes.

V.4 - We deactivated things like crazy to try to fix the bug (such as, UI tutorial and player rotation). - Time was running low so we made that if you won level 5, you went straight to the "beat the level" screen, avoiding the last 2 levels which involved the 'moving cubes' mechanic. This was the way we could upload a 'finisheable' game on time.

V.5 (Post Jam) - After the deadline, we fixed the 'player not sticking to moving cubes' bug (we creted a Unity development build and found there was an "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error) and activated the last 2 scenes. - We also reactivated the UI tutorial and player rotation. - And we fixed that you could go back to the begging of the level if you pressed R as suggested by @afestivedolphin in the comments.

Tell us what you think about the game in the comments!

Thanks for playing ^^

that was a very clever game that was pretty fun -- took a couple levels to figure out the mechanics -- would like to see more -- thanks for making it

Wow really unique game! Only thing was I tried pressing R and it wouldn't restart. Ended up beating the game and had a lot of fun! Makes you think and if you made a few more levels to that, you could have a unique game on your hands! Great job!

Cool use of the theme! My only problem was I had a little trouble figuring out what the rules were for what I could launch to. I played the most up to date version and everything worked fine

Really love the idea!
There is a small BUG. if I stick in a cube and click this cube again, the player will shake badly.

Funny game. I liked the transition from 2D to 3D, it was really surprising.

Just awesome! Love the minimal yet very cute graphics and the relaxing sounds! Brings back feelings from when I used to glide on the ice in Pokemon games ahah
Very good job also on the level design!

I really likme these ideas of puzzle games, and this one was short, but really fun. It can become a good game with some more implementations and some graphic touches! Congrats!

@asturk Thanks a lot! We're actually thinking about making a mobile version with some more levels and improving the art ^·^.

I really enjoy this game and the concept is really solid. You could easily take this further and make it more challenging with gravity physics. I only wish there were more levels ;) Well done!

@mharring Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed it. What do you have in mind with gravity physics? Do you mean making a puzzle that uses gravity in a similar way as Mario Galaxy or you're thinking about something else?
We'd love to know more about your idea, feel free to tell us as much as you want.

Right of the bat I found the style of them game interesting. It took me a couple mins to realize that I could rotate the camera but once I did, it kind of unlocked another level of coolness! Play with 3D space like that adds so many potential layers of interactivity. My only issue with this was that if you can't rotate the camera to the ideal spot it might become subconsciously frustrating. I think if you were to limit the rotation to set presets it solve my comments in that regard and you could still have free rotate as included feature. Most of the puzzles I simply solved by guessing rather then thinking about the puzzle.

Overall very interesting and unique entry!

@jaumemontagut Exactly, you could use gravity to pull the player in orbit around the planets to add to the puzzle mechanics, like in Mario Galaxy.
