A Phony Incarnation by JLV

[raw]
made by JLV for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

A Phony Incarnation is a short narrative game where you start even without a body.

Everything starts when your drifting consciousness is awaken by the feeling of an imminent threat. Your only way of contacting the material plane is through an old cellphone. Embark a military spaceship and try to unravel the plans of the forces plotting against you !

Controls : - Use the mouse left click to browse through the dialogues - When the phone is visible, use space bar to ring it - When prompted, use the arrow keys to move the camera and the mouse left click to select object.

Overall, the game is shorter than I would have liked, but cutting stuff down is what game jams are for. Thanks for playing !

I enjoyed the dialogue in the game. Although I think having different endings could have added a bit, in my second play through it felt like my choices didn't mean much.

Your game has a really fresh and unique feel! You hooked me the moment I realised I _am_ the phone. The story had nice turns too and the dialogue options were great. The voice sounds were a bit too loud and droning in relation to the sweet music for my taste.
But overall well done :)

Well, that was... weird LOL! I really liked trying to make the guy trust me--I just wish that convincing him was harder. It's really cool, because you're detatched from any playable character, almost making you feel like an omnipotent being talking to someone trying to convince them. Now that'd be a fun game!

As much as i dislike the ld45 theme, this one is an nice take on it. Simple, yet effective.

Well thats a dark ending
not a bad game tho
i would make the running animation a bit smoother, but other than that; its a good game

Keep up the good work!

Music is pretty good, it definitely has a brand and is consistent. The art is also impressive. I kind of wish that when you had to make a choice it was a little bit more obvious that it is contrary to just the narrative. Maybe just a subtle change in formatting the dialogue box? Either way it doesn't lessen the experience but could make it better! Nice game

Whoah! Wasn't expecting that plot twist at the end there. Great story and music, and interesting use of god-like mechanics. Nice work!

Dialogs are great, good work on this! Graphics are pretty simple but the game is interesting enough to worth it.

Nice one!

I like how it resembles dialogue-driven "old-school" adventures/RPG-games. The options for you to choose what to say are funny, and so are the responses of the characters.

Would have wished for a little more exploration of the ship, or some different outcomes for different choices. Also I think if one would be able to interact with the environment (induce poltergeist-phenomenona?) by clicking on items would make this even more interesting experience.

But all in all an enjoyable game with an engaging story. Didn't expect the ending!

Keep it going, man!

Dialogues were a great addidition to the game. As @dis0rder said, it felt like those old school rpg games. Felt engaged because of the great audio, graphics and storyline. Great submission!
