made by crneumre for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

About:

The manufacturing lines have constructed a trial to test their robots effectiveness, you either prove you are worth or you will be sent for disassembly.
Use Charge jumps and rocket boots to travel in the world.

GIF58.gif

Controls:

Press U to open the upgrades menu when you are on the ground.
Hold the mouse to charge the jump.
Release to send the robot flying in that direction.
While in air hold the mouse to activate your rocket boots.

Notes:

Jam?: Well originally I targeted the compo but ran out of time to polish the game. I really wanted to get the game to a playable state regardless, so I decided to finish it at least for the jam.

I really thought the mechanic was fun and enjoyed the effects. The platforming was tricky and gave me a little bit of a ribbon vibe. The upgrades were very important, so I might add some UI in the beginning to remind someone when they have enough scrap for their first upgrade or two. Overall well done!

It's fun but when I exited the upgrades menu everything went black.

Your game mechanic is very fun.

I read your page but once in game, I didn't remember that I could press U to open an Upgrade panel, so at first I had a really hard time and I wondered what was the "scrap" for. Then I remembered and everything made so much sense, I actually began to see the fun and understand why some tiles highlighted... I'm not sure it was intended that the upgrades were kept from one try to another, but it was nice to have that!

I'm not sure the jump line and the jetpack bar should be upgrades, since it really plays on the first impression. Or maybe it should be explicit that it exists but you need to upgrade for that. Maybe that's all part of further polishing.

I had fun, nice entry!

I like the particle and the art effect when the character land on the block. When player pressed the mouse, the character can have some feedback to let the player know that the character is ready to jump. Little hard to play, but it is a nice game.

This is a sweet game. It's quite challenging and upgrades is a cool motivation to keep playing. But I would give the charge indicator at the very beginning. Without it, it's quite difficult to understand the game controls, in my opinion. Levels sometimes are unfair: either very difficult at some points or you are left with a leap of faith. When you press on some item you can't buy in upgrade menu, the game crashes.

Fun and addicting, the controls feel polished, maybe lacking some music and sound effects! Otherwise a good game I enjoyed playing, thank you! Good luck and I hope to see you in the next jam! :D

Really nice art and vfx, mechanics are pretty good together with upgrades, only problem is I think more world should be shown, and also you should be able to walk across the platforms

Cool little game. Fun movement mechanic and the game as a whole feels quite polished. Would have loved a bit more versatility in gameplay, but overall great entry.

it would be better if having your mouse pad hidden but in total looks good

would love a fullscreen version, speed up the charge bar, and most importantly after death the movement doesnt work anymore sadly which ruined the game for me

Otherwise would love to play the game with implementations stated above
