Ex Nihilo

might want to build for macOS again- it unzipped as a Contents folder instead of an app, and the Ex Nihilo file opens a textedit window full of garbled text

@omnikrll - I don't think it's meant to be unzipped. It's meant to just be opened as is. That's been my experience with how Unity exports to MacOS.

Really cool experiential game/experience. Felt very cohesive, and showed impressive musical tech skill. Nice job! Thanks for bringing by the stream!

Loved this. Great to see more of an experience than a game in LD, its pretty rare, especially with procedural music too. Pretty much just enjoyed the ride the whole time.

As you could probably tell from the stream, I really enjoyed this. Great experience with a seamless progression, and a very pure take on the theme.

My son was also very pleased by the visuals, if only he heard the music!
Our submissions are two peas in a pod, artistic and expressive, more so than a 'game'.

Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to begin; I fruitlessly clicked/pressed left & right at the black screen for 5 minutes. This might just be my problem since it seems like everyone else is enjoying the game, but perhaps a hint in the comments section could help me out?

And the music … Wow !

(little idea: some "attraction" physics between planets could improve the gamefeel of "space experience" or "sense of wonder")

@chaosed0 Hold right mouse button. (Even if the right mouse button is clicked only for a moment, it still starts to play a sound before it quickly fades back out again.)

I thought the experience was fun. The intro was a bit risky, but I think it was effective in the end. Personally, I'm a control freak, so having the system's controls be so loose made me a little less interested, but I thought the experience was pleasant nonetheless, and I found myself grooving more than a little. Thanks!

Thanks for the hint, came back and played it :) Agree with others, very cool sensory experience. I really like that you didn't go for a traditional take on the theme and went for something quite different. I think it could be slightly stronger visually - the drop shadows on the moons & the font at the end could match the rest of the minimalist style better - but overall, it's well done.

I enjoyed the concept and the procedural generation was excellent. If I had anything to recommend, it would be a text hint that pops up to cue them to right-click after X seconds.

I had no idea what to do at the start. I tried every key, mouse all over, no luck. Had to come back here and read comments to realize it was right click. That was frustrating. Once I got it going, it had great sounds, music, and really cool visuals. A bit trippy, and no way to really know if you've used all the features or not, but very neat looking. I think it would be a bit cooler if there was some behavior dictated by the position and color of the planet. I think it might have been tied to pitch, but I couldn't get them to interact any other way. Cool concept, well executed.

Really nice game with cute graphics! Like others have said, the controls are very intuitive, but other than that, great game! Awesome job!

Very interesting experience! I was a bit confused at first on how things worked, so I had to look at the comments to know how to play. A tutorial, or a "Hold right mouse button" at the start would've been good, just to not get lost.

Woah! This was some amazing stuff! Not gonna lie I did take a while on a black screen waiting for a game to load, before spamming buttons and clicks and soon realizing right click did the trick :wink:

Amazing proceedural music too, and the separate incremental progressions all the way to the end! Calming and interactive. Nice take on the theme too! :smile:
