Ship It

Background

Pour a cup of coffee, put on your boots, and get ready to fulfill some orders! As a newly hired floor worker at The Company Fulfillment Center, it is your job to package and ship orders as fast as they come in! Since you're new, we'll start your shift off easy. We'll drop off a box with nothing in it, and all you have to do is sort it, praise it, and put it in the truck. We'll walk you through the steps.

At a Glance

1) Pick up boxes/products with LMB / E

2) Open and close boxes with F

3) Fill boxes with requested products on shipping label

4) Close the boxes once filled, put filled boxes into Sorter. Press colored button (with LMB / E) corresponding to color on shipping label

5) Put sorted boxes in their colors' Adulator, and follow the set of rules to determine the correct button

6) Ship the boxes in the truck!

Controls

WASD - Move

LMB/E - Pick up / drop box, press button

RMB - Open box

F - Open box

Packing

dropped_box.png

Boxes will arrive from the ceiling vent (it's super efficient!) Though your first few boxes will stay empty, eventually you'll get boxes with shipping labels that actually... you know, require you put products in them. For example, the following package requires a basketball, a coin, and a game controller:

boxwithshelves.PNG

Simply pick up the products (LMB or E key), open the box (F key), and drop them in:

Then you're good to go!

Sorting

sorter_far.PNG

Okay, so you've got a box filled with everything it demands. Now you've gotta sort it! Thankfully, this should be an easy process. Make sure the box is closed and fully packed, put it on the conveyor belt, and let the sorter suck that bad boy in! Then, you've just gotta press the big colored button (E key) that matches the color on the boxes' shipping label. In the following example, just hit the big green button:

sorter.PNG

Make any mistakes, and the sorter will shoot that rejected package out so fast the rest of your packing line might face collateral damage!

Adulating

screenshot_00.png

These boxes aren't just any old boxes. They require praise and admiration before they will ship (needy, right?). After your boxes have been sorted, they'll gingerly convey their way over to their respective color's adulator. Here, you must follow a simple set of rules to properly praise the box!

In the example above, the blue box does not have an odd number of items, nor only 1 type of ball, nor multiple types of balls, so we tell the box it's doing "Awesome work!" and send it on its merry way!

Shipping

screenshot_03.png

So you've packed, sorted, and adulated your box. Now it's finally ready to ship! Pick it up, shove it in the back of the truck, and run as fast as you can back to the rest of the boxes! We're not paying you to dilly-dally!

Oh, really nice job on this game, i had some fun with it even after the counter went zero. In the beginning i got REALLY lost in it for one or two minutes until i got, an Main Menu and some kind of page with an tutorial or explanation on it would be great, but even with that, i really liked it. Really great job!

The music choice really made me feel like I was in a hurry and I got overwhelmed very quickly. I was having some problems with the buttons on the machine not resetting and causing me to have to restart the game. Good game I enjoyed it.

It took me a while to figure out what I was doing wrong because I didn't know how to open the boxes xD

But it was really fun! I ended up throwing all the boxes like a maniac because the conveyor belt was too slow.

This is my best score:

Shame on me.

If I had to say any downside to this game is the alarm sound of the machines, It doesn't put me in tension, it's just a bit annoying. Also, the fact that I have to force close the game to restart it is a bit odd. But despite that I think this is a solid entry!

Congrats!

Well, I understood pretty fast how to play (because I read your explanations here :D ) but I got stuck because the blue button would always stay pressed. That just blocked the game or forced me to make wrong choices to carry on playing.

Other than that, the game looks very nice ! The gameplay is simple but quite effective, and I liked the audio. great job !

When first opening the game, I was a bit confused with how it worked. Came back & read comments so I could finally understand what I was supposed to do. Maybe a tutorial video would help for other reviewers? Great work. I liked the artstyle, but felt rushed because of the music (Probably was the point  ). Nice entry!

This game can get pretty hectic, if you actually work and not sit around taking breaks. At first, I totally missed the shipping part, but later, I got a grand score of 4. You can add a supervisor with an Amazon clipboard to follow you around. Nice job.

OMG, those were very stressful 7 minutes. Great work! :) Sometimes it was hard for me to put things into boxes, but otherwise the gameplay and controls were smooth. Great concept and execution. Well done!

Graphics are beautiful, controls feel super smooth and the whole game is generally very responsive. I had some trouble finding out what to do at first, but overall you learn the game by itself. Well done!

Since there are so many moving parts to this, it would have been nice to have at least some basic prompts for what to do ingame, but it's totally understandable for a jam that you didn't get to that :) One bug I noticed is I pressed all the buttons on the sorter without it having a box inside (while I was trying to figure out what to do) the buttons just stayed pressed down so that when a box went inside later I couldn't press anything to sort it.

Pretty cool idea for a game, didn't initially see that there was more to the room (and a lot more machines) than the corner I started in which was funny

I love what you were able to accomplish as far as the game feel - it gets pretty hectic and stressful, but in a good way, and the audio definitely contributes to that a lot. Having all the instructions on the game page is really helpful but it's hard to read it all and process it. I'm really impressed by what you were able to accomplish for the jam with this - really great work!

I thought this was a pretty fun game although it took me quite a few tries to figure out exactly what was going on and what I was supposed to do. And also I feel as if the red sorter may have been placed a little too far away compared to how close blue and green were. Regardless really fun game. And it looked fantastic as well.

The concept is cool and the graphics are great! :) The incoming parcel sound was a bit annoying but over all it was fun!
