Flatmates from Hell by Paulius

made by Paulius for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Welcome to Flatmates from Hell (Keep it clean, guys) (Prepare to die Edition).

You know that time when your flat lease is ending and you are trying to keep the flat as clean as possible so you get your deposit back when you move out?

Do you know those pesky multicultural flatmates that just stop that from happening?

Do you ever feel like you just have to run around and clean up after them?

Well this game has all that and more!

YOU START WITH NOTHING WRONG.

NO BACTERIA - NOTHING. BUT THOSE WEIRD NAMED FLATMATES OF YOURS.... GOD... DANGIT.

============================================================================

Controls: WASD - Movement SPACE - Interact OTHER - Keyboard keys

Goal:

Keep the flat clean as much as possible until the time runs out. If you manage to keep it 90% clean or more - YOU GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK WHICH YOU CAN THEN INVEST IN CRYPTO.

Assets are half drawn half taken from online.

Very first Ludum Dare entry by us. Thank you!

No my perfectly clean flat! My deposit! Why do I insist on accepting roommates off of craigslist?

Very fun idea, and pretty nice gameplay loop, my only complaint is that the controls feel pretty awkward.

AAaaahhh this was so stressful! I didn't know a typing game could stress me out so much! :D

neat game. when the buttons came up twice in a row I found it a bit confusing though (since there isn't any feedback for when you actually press a button)

These flatmates really make you learn where the keys are quick! Such ruthless landlords. Cool concept!

I like the idea. I was confused for a second when I saw all the different keys but that was my fault for not reading the directions carefully.

Funny game! though the collisions weren't so precise and the commands not so responsive and snappy, but the idea behind is not bad.

as the others say it's a fun game. Collisions have problems, there could be some particle effect when it's cleaned. I remember my old college days good job

Love it, but the controls could use some improvements.

An amazingly fun game :D Walking through doors was a bit chunky, but other than that great job on the game :D

I clicked this game enthusiastically because I've lived in student accomodation, so the joke works as intended. However! If I were you, I'd try to narrow down the scope of the game to optimize what I can accomplish--perhaps a single living room? Other than that, the fact that you freeze in place when you press two movement commands can be really easy to fix and would be an awesome improvement on gameplay. Good job!

Very cool game! I can relate on so many levels. I used to live with a flatmate Radu and also I have created a similar game on a global game jam a couple of years ago where you did tasks (rituals) by pressing 3 or 4 letters on your keyboard. Well done!

My roommates said to say that this game describes them, but I don't know what they mean by that (as in I don't know whether they're the ones cleaning constantly or not)
