Nothing by Bocodillo

[raw]
made by Bocodillo for Ludum Dare 45 (COMPO)

This is a game that as literally as I could make it, starts with nothing.

It is a real game though, not just a blank Unity project.

Honest.

To start try pressing a bunch of keys (but not the SPACEBAR, that's a literal cheating button I left in because I'm an idiot), you'll work it out. Hope you have fun!

Screen Shot 10-06-19 at 10.54 PM.PNG

Jokes aside, that's a nice blue colour. I'd paint my bedroom walls in that blue.

Tools Used:

Unity - Engine

Aseprite - Art

Ableton - Music

Bfxr - SFX

Despite the mistake, I've elected to leave the debug developer cheat key in (hint it's the SPACEBAR), so y'know, don't press it unless you just want to rush the game. It's probably better that people can rush and see everything if they so choose. I'll remove it later.

I really liked this design. I think it fits the theme super well. Just start mashing buttons and the game really comes to life. It was pretty neat! Oh and I really appreciate the linux build, since I keep having to skip over games that are windows-download only

Not going to lie. I had way more fun with this game than any other I've played so far. Great concept. I know it's been done before but it was still very fun nonetheless.

@iconocatstudio Thanks for the feedback. I'm just super glad the Linux build works. I have 0 way of testing it, so that's a load off my mind.

You even made the .exe file's icon nothing xD. That's some dedication right there!!! Fits the theme perfectly, great job I had quite a laugh :D

You got me. Had to open the game for second time after I read that big bold text. And then third time when I read the other text.

@kuviman I made it even bolder-er. Glad I caught someone out though!

Funny game! I feel like space bar giving you a million of everything sort of ruins the progression though, but maybe that's what you wanted xP

@aurailus Oh no. I knew I forgot something. Gotta fix that up right quick, can't go leaving debug stuff lying around.

I was smashing away at my keyboard after i got it, earning all the pixels and what-nots haha.

I won :) That was fun, and didn't overstay its welcome. Building a game with Unity's UI - you poor soul!

Great little game, almost felt like it turned into a rhytmn game at some point with the amount of choices you get. Lovely take on the theme, good job.

Clever! I'll admit I did use spacebar to fast-forward a bit, but from there I felt compelled to play it for real, all the way up through getting disco mode, loot boxes, and eventually winning. Loved the dancing chip. Nice work.

Great fit for the theme! Same as others, I started pressing random keys, until I pressed space. Confusing at first, addictive once everything clicks. Cheers!

All hail the dancing CPU o_0

I played through the game honestly (no spacebar) and it wasn't bad at all, actually quite well paced and enjoyable. Really cool idea, nice job!

Good music taste. Have the tracks placed inside the gift helped you to get through the compo? :)

Solid, playable and fun entry. Good job!

How great is that? One of my favourites so far. It doesn't hurt to remember how many resources are needed to make a great game:) Never take them for granted. I loved the geniusly designed progression, the music that reminded me of westworld at some point, the funny tips and the interface. This really stuck me to the screen. Amazing job!

A very fun idle game ! Very short, but good like that, great interpretation of the theme !

Clean execution. It bugs me that resource generation per second is so slow it's only slowing the profit down since the prize goes up regardless of whether you choose "Per Second" or "On Key Press". But yeah, that doesn't really matter that much, I'm just salty I invested too much in resources per second XD. The game has all you need in a clicker, the art is nice and I love the music. Simple but great entry!

Lol, one of the best clicker games I've played yet, I'm serious! The unlocks are funny and once you start you have to play it until the end. Good job!

Such a nice idea, building up everything from scratch. It does fit great the theme and the scope to be expected for 48h, I think you've made great game design choices, good job!

Fun little game! Super grovy music when the button is unlocked, really loved playing this, it's like unlocking a new world the more more you play, great game! Would love to see an extra thing to unlock called "particle effect", like a little rain effect. I could quite easily see this game being endless!

What a suprise.

I didn't know what to expect and was blown away.

I really liked the start with having no idea what to do next. The mystery is fun. Once I realized how the game worked, it started to feel repetitive. I know it's tough with the time limit but if there was a way to keep more mystery around what to do next and not just mystery around the rewards, I think it would take the game to the next level. Great entry, I enjoyed it :)

Wasn't expecting a cookie clicker-like on LD45! It was interesting and so fun that I played all the way to the end and enjoyed it. 5/5 in theme, really amazing and clever approach.

Really made me smile. Great interpretation of the theme. Also I feel like an idiot for spending the first couple of minutes randomly smashing the keyboard.
