Backstory

You are a Utubez star and you get an email stating that all of your videos have been deleted due to a Server Error.

Gameplay

You need to record, edit and upload videos to Utubez to try and keep your subscribers while still making money you can make videos with fancy FX or clickbait titles and more. Luckily this is all easy as you have a "top of the line" computer system.

Please note

We started making this game on the second day as we over scoped our first idea so we did not have a lot of time to make this.

The idea looked cool so I cliked and tried it.
I laughed at this joke of an email lol I hope this will never happen to anybody (or maybe to this youtuber nobody likes but that keeps making millions ?) ANYWAY, back to the subject.

I thought it was cool to have this "top of line" computer to make videos. I have played a moment and then realized I was not having any fun :/

Graphics are ok but the some text is difficult to read.

There is no sound at all, it doesn't help to make this game look alive!

Unless you literally wait, you can't really lose because you just need to purchase every video upgrade in final cut.

To make this better, I think there should have been more mechanics that brings ore challenge and more choices with unpredictable outcomes.

For example, there could have been a Twitter application you need to check to know what type of video you need to do to get more subscribers (and/or money). You could also use this application to check if there is one of your videos causing a scandal, in which case you could choose between taking it offline, or giving a public explanation (which could have a positive or negative outcome based on some conditions you would have set up  )

Congrats on making a bugless game alone.

By the way, if I had been making this, I would have added a crowdfunding app to whine and take money from my remaining subscribers haha

Cheers :)

it's funny, but for an idle game it's not enough. i agree with @hmaya - nice review btw!

Here they propose to evaluate the audio, but it is not (at least I can not hear it). Reminded youtube simulator)

Good idea but unclear on certain things. The text was hard to read and I couldn't find a place to determine what my current money balance was at the time. The other issue I had is I would create 2 videos one after another and then go to upload them but it would only upload the last one made. Potentially eating into my money balance (but again I couldn't find where that balance was).

With some additional polish and clarity it could be a fun game.

@winslow Thanks for the feedback! To help clear things up, you can only make one video at any time also you view your money in internet adventurer.

Nice complete concept! I like the steady decline of subscribers. :joy:

After a while, I wondered if anything else was supposed to happen ... Nevertheless, good job at wrapping up this jam submission.

I like the graphics, but I feel like the gameplay could have had a lot more going for it

I think YouTube Tycoon is a solid concept for a game, it just needs more time to be implemented properly. I definitely think having more complex mechanics would be the main thing; the primary thing I think I would change is have your subscription rate not just be a constant negative, but have it go up and down relatively noisily with a varying trend depending on the quality of your content (i.e. have it start out with a downward trend but if you regularly upload good content it would change to an upward trend, etc...)
