Space Escape is a fast paced action game where you have to avoid hazardous force fields, rogue asteroids, and numerous enemies. Unfortunately, your ship isn't in the best of condition...

In this game, you start in a spaceship in dire straights with all its systems off line. Throughout the game, more abilities will be unlocked as you face ever increasing challenges.

The ship is controlled with WASD or the arrow keys. Shift activates boost, Space fires your laser, and F launches missiles.

I love sci-fi games, screenshots look great! I am having a hard time (not a programmer by trade) figuring out how to build and play this. *blushes*

The visuals are very impressive for a jam game. I enjoyed the progression from nothing to unlocking weapons. I enjoyed the unique experiance of having to go backwards to enter some of the portals.

@stone-pacifier You shouldn't have to build anything if you have a computer running Windows. Download it as a zip, extract, and run "Space Escape.exe"

Shoot i think the download was somewhat corrupted the first time, files were missing, **it was likely my slow internet.**

I think I have it all now.

Test 1:
I see a blank screen when it opens. I tried various graphics modes. Windows 8. This is an older build of windows 8, I sometime have issues with other things.

Test 2:
Virtual machine (windows 7)
Hmmm, I got a pink screen, tried various graphics modes. Probably because this is a VM?

Unfortunately I haven't gone to windows 10 yet. If I get chance sometime before the competition is over I will try it on a friends comp with a newer version of win.

The graphics are amazing, I especially love the look of the enemy projectiles. It took me a while to work out the if you go past enemies their bullets will track you, but not if you are in front of them. But it definitely has the best graphics of any LD45 game I have played, great game!

Not bad visually! However, in terms of gameplay, we have problems... We can fly backwards really fast, but camera only shows what is in front. We have a very long ship, which is why we are crashing all the time. Enemies projectiles are... homing? The very first enemy will absolutely slaughter you. Crashing into things yields very big punishment (at least we don't need to restart the game entirely lol like in old games). Control scheme is weird, you are playing with left hand while your right hand does nothing... It's your game, of course, but there is space for improvement (no pun intended).

This is fun! The visuals are well done and there's some surprisingly elaborate level design. The enemy homing missiles feel a bit too aggressive, though once you have your own it becomes a much fairer fight. Nice work.

Difficulty is just too much for me, but I see what you're going for! Very nice controls and motion.

I liked many things about this game, the fact that if you fly accurately, you may keep the shield, the choises to rush with boosters or fly a little slower to tactically remove foes, the progression. graphics are mostly very nice. I like the pre-rendered ship, although the tilting animation could be faster to match the rapid movement.

The game would be even better if the normal engines would have a little acceleration before the full speed, now its so twitchy that even more experienced shootemup pilots might end up being a nerve wreck. I ended up dying more to walls than to enemies. The missiles seem somehow bugged as sometimes they dont appear and sometimes are very slow.

Good game idea and nice amount of levels.
