Generic Shooter Game by GameWolves

[raw]
made by GameWolves for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

A generic shooter game for ludum dare 45.

Yeah.... let's just say we had some complications during the jam, so the game is really just a barebones shooter.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At least we tried to make music for the first time. We hope it isn't to annoying.

You start with nothing and have to collect the guns that spawn, each collected gun gives you a small stat boost. The enemies get stronger as time passes, so you should collect all the guns.

Good feeling of shoot & hit & SFX.
In my opinion, one main shortcoming is that it lack of variants in the gameplay.
It's not easy to figure out what the differents bewteen the weapons which I picked up.
It will be much better if the gameplay can be polished more.
Anyway it's a good topdown shooting game as a jam game!

It's got a really solid basis, but just is lacking a bit more depth. If there was some kind of enemy wave system, or upgradable weapons, or something like that it would be a sweet game. As it is, it's enjoyable, but not really replayable. Still really well done!

Quite a unique home screen in my opinion. The screen was too large for my screen so I was unable to see a score or other buttons. Had it not been for @justuspan's comment, I would have thought that was left out.
Despite how overpowered I was, I was hoping for a bit of health regen over time  It became a bit repetitive overtime but I still enjoyed walking around and gunning around

Solid shooter. Not particularly challenging though. Definitely needs something more to keep it interesting.
Nice you have a linux build, though I ended up running the windows build in wine as it was quicker than installing sfml.

@someone Yeah. It probably wasn't the smartest idea writing in C++, as i don't have much experience with the language and with building in Linux. I should have done some research on static linking on Linux, so that people don't have to install additional packages for a ludum dare game. 😅

The game got the basics right, the shooting and moving mechanics are nicely done! The music is pretty good too! Overall, it lacks a clear goal and depth, but it is promising!

Exactly what it claims to be! It certainly created some nice moments of "OH NO TROUBLE" followed by a quick dodge between huge chunks of enemies. It was really nice the way the terrain made the enemies chunk up rather than glomming into one enormous mass to kite. The guns weren't too varied, but that was okay for such a simple direct experience. Another thing I think you did well was deciding to not block the player's movement on hit, I tested and you can just walk over an entire mass of guys. This seems like a good choice, because otherwise the player could get trapped and have a sort of instant gameover no matter how high their health was at that point.

If I could tweak one thing it would be to add a little pointer to the next gun or something to direct the flow of the action a little more. Also, the resolution of the game was a bit awkward for my machine, and the bottom of the screen was off my monitor a little.

Overall, sure, it's generic but it was well put together and fun for a few. Nice work.

It's a good proof of concept. The shooting is fun but it would be nice if there were more types of projectiles and enemies to vary it up a little.

I got really worried as I ran around without a gun. No way to attack the enemy. The yellow dot saved me.
