I may have found one bug: the witches seem to move spastically whenever I approach them.
* The idea is great. I enjoy collecting & crafting games and this has the witchy theme on top. :)
* The art is super cute!
* I really like that the active items/things you can interact with have a black outline, it makes it so much easier to play. Overall the style is great.
* The cave presents nice additional environments, it ends up quite varied!
* The color scheme is really pleasant and along with the music, it makes it feel very relaxing even though you are attacking monsters.
* A meaty chocolate pie with caramel sounds absolutely disgusting and I do not know why I made that. :D It's great you made it possible to mix everything with everything to generate all these options.
* I like that the screens reset when you re-enter them so that you don't have to "die" to collect unlimited amounts of ingredients.

Some ideas for improvement:
* This is pretty much the main one: It would be great to have an unlockable gallery of all the pies you made! I don't think anyone would have the patience to make all 1000 combinations, but it'd still make it feel like you are making some progress. :) And having a counter at the bottom of the screen (X/1000) would help when trying new combinations to see you made a new one.
* The witch, if the game was ever expanded, could use some simple walking animation, even if it was just 2-frame one.
* Allowing the use of arrows would be a great quality-of-life feature.
* Having more varied soundtrack, based on location/whether there are active enemies that could attack you, would be fun. Maybe some sound effects, too!
* There is a small walk-through-an-item issue:

The shrouded figure that guards the lemons, what can you do with them besides shoot and get deflected?
Overall I really like the concept and if you decide to expand it/add more to it (or have some achievements, the gallery, unlockable ingredients, anything, really), I think it'd make for a wonderful game, and not "just" as a jam game where one expects it to be short. I think you've done a great job and it was fun!
Overall, I had much fun with it. Music was nice and graphic were very pleasant to look at.
The only thing I can think of to suggest is to have some sort of direction or goal for the player - even something simple like having your cat pass judgment on your various cooking efforts. Of course, we all know that a game jam means you never have the time for everything on the feature list. Great job!
@josh-galecki I'm glad you enjoyed it! We originally wanted to include a pie rating system based on the sweetness, sourness, spiciness, and saltiness of the ingredients you use. The problem was that it didn't really make sense (Really odd disgusting pies could get more points than usual tasty ones.)
@phoenix-fireflower Thank you! The witches spazzing out is intentional, but we might have overdone it a bit. ;)
@ynneblack Thank you for the detailed feedback! The pie gallery is a really good idea! The cloaked stranger doesn't do much, we just thought it was funny to have this creepy guy sell you lemons, but decided to simplify it in the end.
I also thought it was quite funny how alike our games are. Pie-em-ups are definitely the next big up-and-coming genre! :D
I enjoyed shooting monsters and getting stuff...and making pies ! I was really funny to combine every ingredient into mystery pies. Too bad there are no sound effects :(
If you do want to expand it, maybe NPCs could place orders where they want pies that match a specific flavor profile, like with the system @jandourek described. If the NPCs are monster or cloaked figures, it would make sense that they might want something nasty.
Great work!
