Fields Of Amplidi by godsboss

[raw]
made by godsboss for Ludum Dare 45 (COMPO)

No sound. Run around, punch trees, put down a crafting table, craft axes and pickaxes, and so on. There is kind of a manual below the game.

ld45_resources.png Rocks, coal, iron ore, gold ore, diamonds, trees, bushes - a good place for a base.

I can't break trees? Do i need an axe?

Felt really confusing. Couldn't tell if I was actually close enough to the world objects or not, so ended up just spamming 'I' all the time

@lizelive: No, but you have to hit the tree a few times. I put some more info into the manual.

Love the simple feel, big bonus for web games.. and .. .GoLang compiled to JS .. nice ;)

Neat game! I enjoyed wandering around and gradually figuring bits out. Leaving a trail of trees back to my workbench was key. I feel like it would have taken a really long time to win, so I didn't try for that, but I did enjoy the time I played. Nice work!

@dob: Thank you! Reusing the same workbench is possible, but it is cheap and trees are everywhere, so you can also just craft a new one (same with furnaces). :-)

@nikolaj: Yeah, wanted to try GopherJS. I recommend avoiding the fmt package, a single fmt.Sprintf(...) in your code gives you +700kb JS. o_O

Simple survival game, not much to say, but I like how the background rotates with you, seems disorienting at first but looks cool. Also, it is rare nowadays to a see a game not made on unity.

Go, and you modularised your code too. Nice.

The manual was helpful.

One bonus half innovation star for doing a web game in go! But this was really confusing. No feedback for mining, turning in this kind of top down display instead of just moving in 2 axes feels weird.

Minecraft, if it was made in the 80s :)

Well done!

Nice submission. I liked the rotating controls although please consider supporting arrows as well as wasd next time for non qwerty keyboards :)

the rotating controls are interesting, but make it really hard to keep track of where you are and where your workbench and furnace are.

Went for the crown! The game is pretty well made, instructions are needed because controls are not very intuitive but the flow of the game is good. The following camera is well made too, good job!

Oh boy, tank controls :P Pretty decent, but would really have loved strafing bound to Q and E. Also I feel that a lot of interaction could be bound to space or something, instead of 3 different keys.

I think you could affich the control on the bottom off the screen for more clear, or making a small tutorial. I like the rotation of the map that's interesting. And maybe you can use a kind of top down shooter control to move player, else it's a good crafting game.

@tyfus Workbench and furnace are not that important, you can craft as many as you have materials for and place them. :-)

@snesgaard You're right, strafing is a great idea. I will include it in the post-compo version.

Thanks for the instructions. Crafted tools and furnace and the basic gameplay loop is quite fun. Reminds me of Miencraft.

If I could make one feature request - I wish there was slightly better feedback when I'm standing in the right place to hit a rock, tree, use a crafting table, or a furnace. sometimes I thought I was close enough only to realize later I wasn't.

@candlesan You're absolutely right, the lack of feedback is a huge annoyance. Will be added in the post-compo version soon.
