Bumpkin's Spooky Adventure by BrotherBondProduction

Bumpkin's Spooky Adventure is a 2D side scrolling action game that subtly implements the concept of "starting with nothing", as The player's character, Bumpkin, starts his battle with no weapons. Bumpkin must stop the enemies from reaching the side or else he will reap pain.

When Bumpkin dies, the Almighty Plumpkins resurrect his soul and offers him the chance to enhance his abilities in order to fight off the incoming hordes of Spooky Bois.

Very enjoyable game, with cool graphics. It gets more fun over time, especially as you get the upgraded attack. I do wish the upgrade screen was on the death screen, having to go back and forth was inconvenient and seems unnecessary. Collecting coins was also just a bit annoying sometimes. Overall though, great game!

At first I was like "Man im so weak." then I was like "Man Im so strong!". Really like how attack upgrades were not just an increase in damage numbers.
I think the coins should had scrolled towards the left when they are dropped. Hard to get more coins when you kill enemies as soon as they appear due to high attack upgrades.

Very spooky indeed. I liked the detail of not even being able to start shooting until you got the upgrade. The mechanics were juicy and fun which lead it to being a great game. Good job :D.

The game was pretty fun! just at first wasn´t sure I had to go against the enemies to get the coins!
but the end game was pretty fine I liked being a super pumpkin haha.

A new meaning for the "die and retry" ! I like this game because it's the opposite of my team's one. We play the skull that kills the bumpkins, so I like the change ^^. Good job, and now : Add more ennemies !

Really loved this! Actually very fun, especially when the gun gets fast and shoots in multiple directions. Would love to see this game continued later on!

The art was nice and the menu was interactive. The How To Play section got cut and some area was not visible of it. Overall, a nice game in a short amount of development time.

I like the art work and sound a lot. I couldn't seem to fire though. Also, yea an exit button could be really beneficial.

@stuckne1 At the start of the game your player cannot fire until they upgrade they're attack. Currently you can use the escape button to quit the game but we will be sure to add a dedicated exit button :) Thank you so much for your feedback!

I certainly enjoyed my time with this game! Playing with a maxed out attack felt great, but I think you might have overdid it with the movement speed upgrades.

I think i upgraded attackspeed 4 times and movement speed twice to win with 1hp :D
The game feels really cool reminds me of some old flash games I used to play as a kid (ON that note why no webgl? :( ). Unfortunately it is very short. The graphics are nice and the audio is spot on.

@ausstein Thank you for playing our game, we had noticed that the upgrades were a bit unbalanced after the game launched prior to our play testing. This is our first game jam and therefore we published the game to what seemed to be the easiest way for us but webgl will definitely be put into consideration down the line.

Near the end, the speed upgrades actually make the game harder, but overhall a nice fun little game, good job!

Thank you @savvy-community for trying our game out! At the time, none of the upgrades were "balanced" properly and we agree the movement speed was a bit exaggerated at its final form. We released a new update of the game which takes this into account.

@room606 If the enemies get to the left side of the screen, Bumpkin will take damage as said in the How to Play menu. However, there currently is an issue with enemies going off screen which they eventually damage the player when they reach the far left side. This should be fixed in the next update!

The respawn / upgrade system is cool ! The game could be a bit more intuitive. At the beginning I didn't understand why clicking didn't shoot anything and I guess there's a health timer but it isn't very clear at the beginning when you lose HP for what appears to be no reason.
