This is really well done. Feels pretty polished and clean. The art is amazing and what drew me in. The dialogue is great so far as well. No bugs that I noticed either.

Great job and keep up the good work!

Takes me back to King's Quest! This was a lot of fun, and short enough to complete in an entire sitting. Really enjoyed it! My only suggestion might be to make the walking a bit faster.

Sweet Heavens! While I'm not much of a point & click player, the old school graphics and animation were so pleasant to look at (Aside from the text it was hard to read but that might just because I sit far to close to my monitor) I only encountered two bugs, while playing one was just the laying of the blue effects on the stone being off and appearing over my head and the other one was right after when the book appeared my mouse cursor just vanished and wouldn't come back, might be because I like to spam click everything because I'm to impatient to just look at my character move! :D But otherwise really well done, I'm very impressed!

Amazing! I don't think you really achieved the theme of the jam, but I may be wrong. What I do know is that your art, levels and sound design are really really good. But the most distinctly beautiful thing is your storytelling. I don't know if you usually make games of this type, but this is too good. Good job man, you really inspire me! :smiley:

Any chance you could zip up the game so that I could try to run this with WINE? I'm on Linux and seem to have trouble with unzipping .rar files

Guys, thanks a lot for playing my game, and also thank you all for such kind words!

@lone-wolf I will do that as soon as I get home (sorry been very busy this week). My bad I should have zipped it in the first place, this happened to me last ludum dare as well.

@catiliangames Wow, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. What exactly do you mean by "this type of game". You mean fantasy, mysterious, or adventures in general? Well that's basically all I do, haha, so considering that, my skills should be much better than this, I think I still have a lot to learn. Thank you though ^^.
And also the theme... well, I know it wasn't well thought, but that was the first idea that came to my mind - Start with nothing (in your book) and try to get some info to write about.

@iluvatar Oooh ok I just didn't get how you incorporated the theme when I played through the game, but now that you said it it seems so obvious :sweat_smile:. I meant adventures in general, I still can't believe how much you did in 3 days. Do you have an Instagram or Twitter account, or somewhere else where I can follow your work?

Oh man, thanks! I don't want to sound like a smug, but actually I had to finish on Sunday evening (haha) because of family stuff. Even though I submit my games as Jams, I only have two days to spare. I think the reason why I manage to do them in time, is that I use Adventure Game Studio software which is reeeeeallly easy to code your games in. So 70% of my time is used on art and the rest is simple coding. So no, I am not as good as I could be.
Well, I don't have twitter (yet), but if you are interested in my and team's games you can check out our Ichio site.

All games there are basically just LD jam entries. Except Metaphobia which is more "professional" adventure let's say. It is full length 90's like, fully voiced, adventure similar to Broken Sword or Gabriel Knight. For Metaphobia though, I didn't do any art (thank goodness), I wrote the story, dialogs and puzzles for that one. You can try whatever you like, it's all free :)

A wonderful little game, well done! It brought fond memories of playing Gobliiins and Indiana Jones as a kid. The dialogues are well written (although I think I spotted one or two typos), and the puzzles are well designed; just hard enough to be a challenge without your trying to click on everything and hope for the best.

I liked the graphics and the sound design too, especially all the little ambient sound effects building the ambiance, like the sounds of birds chirping in the first scene. The only thing I'd improve is the font in the instructions and the book. I understand that the low-res pixel art dictates a certain style, but sometimes I had trouble reading the text. The font in dialogues is easier to read, on the other hand.

The idea of writing a chronicle fits nicely with the theme. I'd play a longer version of this game, I now want to know what those giants are and who had carved the stones!

@stasm Thanks my friend! By the way, Gobliiins is one of my most favourite games of all time!

Yeah using any font in such a low res is kinda hard. I needed to use as small font as possible so I could fit the text to the book.

"I now want to know what those giants are and who had carved the stones!" - Don't we all? ;)

That was really nice! Just un detail : when clicking on the "Leave" button on the menu, the "Quit" and "Play" texts are a bit out of their buttons. But that's really tiny detail ^^

Wow this is definitely a great game and very polish for a game jam!
I really love the mood, graphics are amazing and so is audio.
Some puzzles and situations reminds me of Monkey Island, this is a great reference if intended.
You should definitely consider continue the game, I mean it :)

I'm not so found of point and click games but I liked yours very much! I was invested in the story and wanted more when it finished! I just felt it was lacking some kind of stakes... but given the amount of time this entry is awesome! Congratulations!

It totally bought me. The story, the graphic and the audio was really good together and I enojoyed the game a lot. It was short but pleasing and I'd love to see longer version of it someday, somewhere. Thed story is really simple but nicely written and really fascinating, with this land of giants and such. One of my fave enteries so far <3
I got a bug of some kind tho, the game kicked me to my desktop two times with no reason. No idea why.

Very nice!

I played point 'n' click adventures -games A LOT growing up, so this kind of stuff hits home.

I've also fiddled around with [Adventure Game Studio](https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/) myself as a kid way back in the early 2000's on an old DOS-version. It think I started out at least 2 projects on the way like 10 to 15 years ago, but never got around to finish them. I wasn't otherwise active in the AGS-community, but there was a period when I was searching for all sorts of obscure titles I could find and playing them out. Good times!

----

Aside from the nostalgia-factor, I enjoyed your game on its own merits as well.

Your minimalistic graphical style is pleasant to look at, especially when you reach the Sky Hill. I think the perspective is a bit off (the fall to the abyss doesn't seem as deep as it probably should), but otherwise the scene is masterfully crafted, and my favorite part of the game.

You're also a good story-teller, and have been able to produce a world which seems living an breathing.

At first a part of me was wishing for some kind of backround music, but afterwards I came to embrace the fact that you chose to use only natural sounds as an ambience. I think it somehow emphasizes the fact that you have ended up at a desolate mountain town on a quest of high importance.

All in all good work. And I think it's great people like you keep the old-school point 'n' click -scene alive.

----

Oh. And I played this on a Linux-machine, and noticed that @lone-wolf also had trouble unpacking the RAR-file.

If you haven't been able to unpack it, you ought to try this:

```
sudo apt-get install unrar
unrar x 'Sky Stones LD45.rar'
```

At least it worked for me.

Happy adventuring!

@dis0rder Thanks! It worked.

Great game. Only problems:
* Couldn't exit the game while playing. I had to finish it to be able to access my computer again
* Sound was broken for some reason. Only the cat's meow sounded anything like a meow

Other than that great work. I enjoyed playing :thumbsup:

Excellent pixeart adventure game!
Excellent well-written story. As a fan of adventure games excellent job!!
My only nitpicking is at then end when the book is shown with the full story the game appear locked (even if it is not) with no cursor and no interaction.
I almost tried to force close the game when suddenly the player's character talked which made me realize that I had to wait for more cutscene :smile:
