Very nice idea, a bit rough around the edges (i.e. camera repositioning when changing direction) but overall very beautiful work. The frog was scary as well.

First off, the game is very pretty. Nice palette and lighting, good character design. Is the player character scaled down from her actual resolution though? The line work seems a bit thinner.

@tomeks is right about the camera movement, it felt a little jarring. Other than that sound effects would have greatly enhanced the spooky darkness around. I found it difficult to get a view of the enemies. At one point a bat kept zooming out of the darkness and instantly sending me back to the checkpoint. Another small black spot killed me shortly after making it past him, but I couldn't even see what it was.

A very pretty entry!

This a very cool concept and great graphics BTW. But the control is a bit too complex to get used to.

There seems to be some issue with the rising platforms, I kept falling off. The mechanic of setting distractions seemed like a good idea, but the bats always showed up too unexpectedly for me to do anything about them.

I really love the art in this game. Very beautiful!

I loved the aesthetic! I had a really hard time dealing with the enemies though, the spider and bat were black and sort of appeared out of nowhere, so it was almost impossible to recognize and respond to them quickly enough. Beautiful game!

E resetting you back to the save point once you run out of fireflies is very annoying. Is this intentional? The artwork is nice, and the BGM was great.

@ruud-cremers Yes, it was intentional. According to the idea of the game, you can not stay in the dark. Alas, we did not manage to add or change much. We planned to display the number of fireflies next to the player. This will be added in the next update.

Very pretty game. Very rare to see such nice illustrations from a jam game, the enemy design was really great too! The firefly mechanic was interesting, but it was hard to tell if it actually was working in a lot of cases. I would sometimes fall off a ledge and die to some flying enemy and get sent back really far, maybe an increase in the vision radius would make this game feel a little better to play because it would give you a little more time to react to what's about to get you.
I overall enjoyed the game, it builds a nice atmosphere and has much better controls then most jam games. Good job!

The visuals and sounds are amazing. The controls feel polished and the concept of the fireflies is interesting. I seemed to get lost in the game though, maybe it was intended to be that way i'm not sure however i found it hard to progress because of it. But overall really good entry!

Lots of art for a game jam, which is encouraging. The music and sounds were ruining the atmosphere for me, would have rather went with the option of no music at all than this. Same for SFX. Hard to orient around.

For some reason the game was really laggy and I couldn't get very far, but the art direction and general mood were really interesting.

Hey nice concept guys, I liked the overall idea of having several uses for the fireflies from lighting path and using them as distractions in non-lethal way. The atmosphere was nice and definitely felt like there was a story behind the whole experience even without telling it to a player directly what's up with the world. Cool jam game guys!

Nice concept, i like how the mechanic fits the level desing. The avatar collider gives some problems to the platforms, but its nothing that can be solved with some minor updates. Great Job!

Pretty good cute visuals. Concept with combat system is very promising!
I suppose, game has a lack of navigation. I don't know where to go and why. The huge map with many many many different ways is getting me lost...
Also low jump will be useful (controlling jump height via key-pressing duration). Also some walls are bouncy, which make jumping harder.

The amount of visual polish on this game is fantastic! The detail of the environment, the glowing effects, the character animations...it all feels really cohesive and I loved the vibe I got while playing it! My only nitpick are that the level felt a bit repetitive at times and without a super clear goal (though the experience enough was worth the play through imho, so that was less important to me). Especially with the incomplete lighting, it was sometimes hard to tell if I'd been somewhere before or not. Adding some distinguishing features to some areas (signs, flora/fauna, or new kinds of enemies) could help this maybe. I liked the checkpoints and boss at the end, though! Overall, a game I would definitely play more of if it gets developed further :)

@catie-jo Thanks for the feedback. Graphics and game design were done in three days. One day was spent on fixing many bugs and general polishing of the game. We still have a lot of unused graphics. We continue to improve the project. Here is a part of the unapplied graphics.![demo.png](///raw/66f/12/z/29586.png)

@dodelov those are so cool! yeah I totally get that the time constraints limit what you can do -- the best and worst part of jams is how little time there is haha. My feedback totally isn't criticism of what you managed to do in 72 hours; what you have is seriously impressive! More just things I noticed if you wanted to turn it into a full game...which honestly I really hope you do! Thanks for sharing the art!

This was a gorgeous game, well done! I loved the art, and the mechanic of using fireflies as a distraction was very interesting.

The music, while really dope (future bass?) and a high quality production, felt super out of place in the context of the game about a witch in a spooky forest. I think some creepier music would have done a great deal for the mood of the game, especially since it's one about running from monsters in the dark.

There were also some canvas misplacement even in the bugfix version when windowed, but not a huge deal since it was fixed on fullscreen.

Nonetheless, really awesome game!

I certainly appreciated the uniqueness of the art style. Although I would have liked to see a bit of a smoother camera transition and camera follow.

Pretty good art, interesting idea. Games about darkness are difficult to make. I think that game developers should learn from cinematographers: if the scene is dark, it doesn't mean there should be no light in it, it should not be pitch black. My opinion, anyway. You can have it pitch black, but then compensate with level design, I guess. Otherwise, the player is disoriented and it's simply not fun, which is probably most important thing. You did solve another challenge, though, which is: the dark/light contrast does not hurt eyes, which is well done! :) Cheers

Beautiful and moody art. Interesting game mechanics that I think you could have expanded on if you had more time. Level design worked, and beating the frog-monster was rewarding. Well done!

I'm not so much into platformers but I really love the the graphics. You did an amazing work on assets! I'm not so sure about sound fx and music (the music is nice but I think something more ambient could be more suited with this dark nightly mood). Great job, I'm pretty sure you can turn this into a bigger game!

Interesting idea and it fits with the theme well enough. The platforming itself and maneuvering around enemies is pretty basic, but there seems to be a lot to the levels and where the player can go. Encouraging exploration is good, hopefully the player doesn't get too lost in the darkness though.

Pretty artwork and nice mood with the music :)
The controls could need more polishing, especially the jumping. Also the combat wasn't very intuitive and lacks feedback - somehow I defeated the boss while just sitting around in the cave :D

the graphcs on your videos look amazing, so I was a little disappointed that the loading of the game failed and ended up in black screen (with music playing on background) and a not-responding dialog... I was so much waiting for the game when I saw your videos...

I like the game, I think the concept is cool and it is always good to see different approaches to this type of games. I don't know if it's only me but I was having some frame rate problem. Also, the music its a bit off for me. Congrats for this fun game.
