Food Fight by zgragselus

[raw]
made by zgragselus for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

You are a chicken drumstick, entraped in a weird dungeon. Your enemies are non-meat edibles, spawned across multiple floors of the dungeon.

Your goal is to kill the nemesis, an eggplant. Because eggplants suck.

The game is a simple roguelite game, where you move around and attack enemies by walking into their position.

Unfortunately, the game contains no audio, due to the lack of time and audio person in the team.

The game was made with Unity, and all assets and code, apart from the post-processing stack, were made during the jam.

Pretty cool game ! I would have love some music or sounds I have to admit, but the movements are interesting, they remind me of "The Necrodancer". great job !

The lighting is phenomenal for the time you had. Mechanics are also smooth and overall it was a joy to play

The lights and the graphics are nice. The frame-rate not so much (at least on my laptop). I like the gameplay and how it is all simple. There is a great potential with this game in terms of strategy. I would love to play a version of this with more levels and more diverse environments.

The premise is amusing and the graphics are quite charming. I was definitely sad about the lack of sounds, as those sound popups are just begging for some sweet audio to go along with them. The levels also often felt quite empty and I found myself wishing for a minimap.

Nice. Sadly, my computer couln't run it very well, I got *really* low frame rates. Not everyone has a super good P.C. :joy_cat:

All the best~

This is pretty great lol. Having auto-repeat on the movement would be a nice touch. Otherwise it reminds me of my entry where you gotta hit the button right on the beat.
I never did get to slay the eggplant, I got too carried away exploring level 2 which was friggin massive. I was also checking around every corner for hidden traps / stuff.
Still quite fun. Thanks!

Nice game! Game was a bit dark (in lighting not in tone) and spamming wasd was a little tiring. Would have liked to be able to hold the buttons down especially on a map as big as this.

I WON!

This game looks very nice. The way the lights shine off the ground is very pleasant. I liked the "turn based" mechanic, but wish it had been used in some more "puzzle-y" situations. Currently the game seems pretty easy, with lots of health, and empty areas. If you had more time to work on it, I think it would be cool to add some smaller "puzzle areas": Situations where the player really needs to think about the enemy movement patterns to be able to make the right choices.

Good entry!

The movement was interesting but I think we should be able to keep a key pressed and move towards a direction without having to "spam" the key. I get it's borrowing from the Crypt of the Necrodancer but without the beat to sync with it, it felt a bit tiring. Apart from the I liked the lighthing and post-processing and I managed to finish it although I got lost several times. A bit more variety in the enemies and a smaller amount of health pick ups would also make the game a bit more interesting but given the time and that it's a game jam what was made is good. Good job!
