SHIPWRECKED by Bredera
This game was made by @Ayxs (programming, sprites, animations, SFX) & @Bredera (sprites, animations, level design, music) for Ludum Dare 45. We are really pleased with the end result and we hope that you all have a good time going through it!

Story:
You wake up on a desolate island, your ship a ghost of what she used to be, you have been shipwrecked.
Finding an old pirate's hat reminds you of better days, when you and your crew ruled the seas and brought fear to the established order. Determined to get another ship you set out on a janky raft to civilization.
Here trading means money, but for you trading means getting closer to another ship to once again rule the seas!

Gameplay:
The gameplay consists of a few mechanics: You can walk around, use your map to go to different island and you can trade with NPCs.
Movement:
A or Left Arrow : Walking to the left
D or Right Arrow : Walking to the right
F : Pickup items
E : Open map (when near your raft / boat) & trade with NPCs
Mouse : Used in the map to select next island

Have fun, and don't hesitate to give us feedback!

The theme is hit pretty nicely and the game reminds me a bit of memory :)
Wonderful job and wonderful interpretation of the theme.
Also props for actually uploading a Linux version of the game!! ;3
The idea is really fun, and as a fan of Point&Click adventure games, this was a great little demo of one for a game jam, the graphics were another level.
One minor suggestion - Quality of life touches on P&C games are really important and add a lot in my opinion.
Even something as small as speeding up / skipping island transitions after seeing each one of the possible ones would have been nice.
Overall one of the best this jam :)
But I do feel bad for the poor sailor that gave up his galleon for a rowboat!
Good job :)
@slimabob People back then weren't that smart right? thank you so much for the feedback!
@trinarr Are you just saying it's not really innovatieve since you also made a pirate based game :thinking:...
Just kidding, of course. Your game looks interesting I'll check it out once I get home :), thank you for your feedback!
@frozen-spirit Thx :smile:
Just, too bad about music.
Arrr!!
@fedz Thank you! we are really happy with how it turned out
@ambra Yarrrr!
@pierre-feuille-studio Awesome! thank you for the feedback!
You could have a set of core mechanics and have people trade items in exchange for completing tasks, that challenge and teach the players understanding of the core mechanics. Then the final one, to earn the ship, puts all of what you learned to use to win. That's if you want to take this idea further though, maybe you want to move on to something else. Just my two cents :) Great job guys!
I considered the idea of a trade-up game myself but couldn't think of a way to make it engaging. I really thought you did a good job pulling it off. The first thing I noticed was actually your intro. The team logo is professional and the LD logo just gave it even more umph. I reallly liked the art style, though as much as I love a man who can walk using only his feet, the characters were on the weaker side mostly cuz they seemed less consistent with the environment. The environment though, was awesome to look at and was one of the reasons the game just kept pulling me forward. The choice to use a black sky was incredibly bold but I loved how it turned out, it really makes things pop. Screenshots don't do this game justice, once you're in you can tell a lot of work was put into making it all work together.
@peachtreeoath Thank you so much for your feedback! All the chalk graphics took indeed long to make but it was worth it! Myself and @ayxs are really not good at making characters , especcially character animations but it was a good learning process. once again thanks for the awesome comment! I will check out your game as well :smile:
The characters, map, water, sailing animation and the like were all very cute.
Nice work!
I enjoyed playing it. Thank you for the game!
Played your entry, it has pretty funny graphics, I liked it. :)
A game has not much gameplay, but I see you were creating a basis for a bigger amount of content.
Anyway, good job! :3
And thanks for playing my entry. :3
@hcursino Wow thank you for the amazing feedback, glad that you enjoyed our small game!
@mrstari Thank you! :smiley:
The gameplay while simple (after all this is a jam game) fit the LD theme nicely and due the game's short length don't become repetitive. Nice job here!!!
The controls and the objectives are well explained to the player so the player isn't lost (something that can be found in quite a few entries :wink:
