The Unknown Nude!

While exercising you lose HP a little bit faster...

While meditating you lose HP a little bit slower...

The merchant comes once every two days at the 7th hour of the day.

Press E to eat (restores 1/3 of the health) (if you have food)

Hold on until you reach an ending!

It takes about 5 min to get to an ending

There are two different endings!

According to old monks, you can meditate and do nothing else for more than a week straight and discover great insight and enlightenment...

Live!

An option to disable music would be nice but still, solid game, i was a bit confused at first but then everything made sense.

Clever idea -- I struggled to get the balance between exercise and meditation.

@deranonymos woa that's really weird! did you ever get a "game over" because of the HP? (Or did that happen just once?) i may have made some last minute change to the game Over function....

*Edit*
I tested it out, i screwed up, in a last minute adjustment i screwed the timer Stop up with >= instead of <= ahah. Now you'll get the dead sprite and the game will actually be over :)

@pedromgdo definitely, as soon as the voting ends I will implement that new feature. until then i'm not sure i can modify the game like that... thank yo!

Fun little game, I like the cure graphics! It just starts to feel a little repetitive after a short while!

there are endings after some time, the total playtime is about 5 min, i believe!
I may reduce the real time per hour in game, if I polish the game.

Well, I killed the merchant and became the merchant and I think that beat it? Overall a neat little idea balancing your health with food rations by either training or meditating. Could make for a neat story based RPG, but the gameplay was a bit dry. It became pretty boring just sitting around clicking either train or meditate with nothing else to do... But the music is great! Overall definitely not bad.

Seemed like I had to do nothing but exercise till near the end and then when I picked Fight nothing happened until I died? I probably did something wrong, my bad.

Really relaxing to play. Minimalist design was nice, pixel art looked lovely as well. There was one bug I experienced at one stage with multiple UI elements going over each other but other than that it ran smoothly :)

Well done :) I like the music and atmosphere of this game.

I don't know if that's a bug: When I'm strong enough and the merchant asks me to fight: I win and the merchant gives me 2 food rations. But since the merchant stays for a while, I can click on him, enter another fight right away, win and receive 2 more rations ! :D I did that several times so food was no longer an issue.

I also got the "answer to life is nothing, thank you unknown nude" ending :)

That was... something :)

First try, I tried to balance strength and meditation, but then the merchant wouldn't give me anything and I ended up dying ^^'

Second try, I really focused on strength and a bit of meditation, and I became the merchant AHAHAH I mean uh that was mean, I was pretty sad to kill him :(

Third time though, I chose the path of enlightenment, and that ending was pretty neat :)

Cool atmosphere overall, although the music (which is super cool by itself) has a loop a bit short, and the playtime is a bit long, so it kinda gets on the nerves at some point ^^'

@nachtwitch @toryf @piturnah @nathaniel-jensen thank you!

@pincushion thanks! yeah, i agree, it is too repetitive.

@mikeality thanks for the detailed feedback! yeah i wonder how I could improve the repetitiveness / boredom of the game!

@locomule in fact there is not that much to do but balancing the two stats. if you just exercise you will run out of life before you can (ง'̀-'́)ง for food. you did nothing wrong tho, you played the game according to what i explained, thank you!

@drrozza thanks ! weird bug, haven't found that one

@fredfilo thank you! it isn't a bug! when you are stronger you will win the (ง'̀-'́)ง, and the merchant will give you two rations. After that it's easy to stay alive. It's great to know you finished the two endings, you're the first person to report so!

@grhyll wow!! thank you for playing the whole extent as well!! I'm really glad you found that ending funny.

@fredfilo @grhyll i am really happy that you took the time to explore the game to it's depth. Thank you. A lot!

It drags on a bit too long, would have liked to be able to speed it up to check out the endings, as there isn't that much to do but wait and occasionally click.
The music is neat, but it too gets repetitive

You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the merchant.:D
Nice compo entry! I waited a few minutes after becoming the merchant and got plenty of food,
but the character just walked of screen. ^^

Neat game, I had fun playing it. I think that this take on the theme was interesting. I liked the background music in this game, it was quite nice and calming. I had a nice moment of suspense of if I would live or not, it took a while to be strong enough to fight for the merchant, and I got my first food with 2hp left. I ended up becoming the merchant (bad ending?) and was a little confused by the lack of a game-over screen, the character just wandered off into the outside of the game. Overall a nice relaxing game, well done!

@smilewood !! wow thank you for the detailed feedback! I agree with you, i think the balancing of health until you get food is the interesting struggle! i wouldn't say it is the bad ending, it's just an ending! Yeah, i should add a "game won" screen. Thank you again!

Neat little game, I found it a little arbitrary at points but it told a nice story. Solid use of limited mechanics to convey emotion.

The game could have a restart button, whenever I finish the game I have to reload the page to play again, and it takes a lot to load.

Also, I couldn't kill the merchant the first time the option appeared to me, it only worked when I got some health. If this was supposed to be a requirement, then it would be better if the character either died trying to kill him or the option didn't appear at all.

@rebtf @anisimovih Thank you and indeed.

@avsc good ideas! about the second part, the character should die, it doesn't because of a bug, i didn't have enough time to make sure all game over situations worked perfectly... :( thank you!

I mixed excercising with meditation in about 50/50 ratio, but the merchant didn't want to sell me anything untill I died. So much for fun I guess
Not really much in the way of gameplay as there's pretty much just 2 things to do, so I didn't really feel compelled to play.
I didn't experience any major glitches though, so that's something to be proud of on your first entry :) .
Don't worry, no first entry is incredible. Keep improving and try again on the next jam - you will be much better on your second go, trust me.

relaxing music, but the gameplay is a bit repetative, at some point the merchant gave me the option to attack him, but it didn't really do anything?

@tyfus thank you for your constructive feedback!

@likirus it's a bug, if you have less than 100 HP when you attack the merchant, you should die / game over. thank you for playing!

Interesting entry. Very minimalistic. Pleasant audio, nice graphics. There is not much gameplay though, mostly idle game mechanics. I would have enjoyed some more interactions with the world and such (but I do realize it's tough to get content in with a limited timeframe!) :)

Very cathartic little game! And surprisingly difficult for the mechanics, too.
On the medi ending, it was hard to tell the game had ended, I think? Since the timer kept going on even though I had gotten thanks from the merchant.
Nice work!
