Stickman Get Stuff by Barrier

[raw]
made by Barrier for Ludum Dare 45 (COMPO)

Help the poor sad stickman acquire stuff! Trees are good too! TakeTree.png

But be careful, climate change is real, nature is mad! Don't get hit by lightning and stuff! DontGetHit.png

Use wasd or arrow keys and space or H to pickup stuff then take it to your house.

Didn't have much time to work on this, so the project is very messy and lots of fx and gameplay is missing but it is what it is :)

Great ending. It was worth playing until the end.

good game, especially liked the ending. my only 2 pieces of feedback are 1, a bug where the item you where carrying would drop through the floor when you took damage made the game way more frustrating. 2 all the obstacles felt more or less the same as you would just walk up to them, let them do there thing, then walk past. overall good game though.

This game is hilarious and the ending was definitely worth some trial and error to get there. Great work!

Very charming! Hits the theme and the deeper message is an important one. From now on I will hum your melody wherever I go.

@hartvichio
Oh yeah its a big EMPTY house, you need some plants in there to make oxygen and hey maybe they will produce apples later? :)

@yolziii
Yeah nature doesn't care about us or our junk! :)

@zerptin
1. isn't a bug, but a "feature". I didn't want the game to be too easy.
2. Yeah the "enemies" were planned to be a bit more active (moving around) and more animated but I didn't have enough time to do it.
So we are left with this one trick for the enemies. Some people still had problems figuring out how to safely pass :)

Thanks for playing! :D

This is great! It looks simple but it's surprisingly challenging (or I'm real bad at timing things), and the sounds are hilarious - I almost burst out laughing when the sun came after me. The art style's well done too, reminds me of an early-00s Flash game. Nice work!

I was aple to finish it, thank you for your game, i think i found a bug, If you go under the cloud and start presing in loop (left arrow and down arow) you are able (after first flash) go over it. The same happens with other obstacles, dont know if is a feature or bug. I like the sounds :D

What a fun, quirky little game. It started off a bit frustrating especially with the low friction, but once I learned all the enemy patterns I beat it easily enough. The audio design is top notch - I especially liked the sound the sun made.

Not sure what people mean when they say they don't want a tree in their living room. I mean, what else are you going to do at Christmas time?

As always you made a fun but a little peculiar game with ugly but pretty graphics and bad but good sounding sounds. If that makes any sense :) I wish you had more time for this.

What a beautiful ending with a beautiful message. After reading the comments it also hit me how "nature doesn't care about our junk" plays into the enemies being nature, I didn't even notice that during gameplay. Lots of thought put into this one, very cool.

Quite humorous XD. I like the idea that you loose the item you're carrying if you get damaged, it means you need to get another one if you make a mistake. The backtracking back and forth can get a bit repetitive.

When are we getting the OST vinyl huh?
The sound effects made everything 200% funnier and I'm still humming the main theme haha
it's challenging (lost count of my deaths) yet rewarding. Nicely done :D

Hmm... spiky mine things are definitely very natural. Probably the most natural part of the game. :smile:

Simple but good game. Art style was consistent. Control scheme was intuitive (if a bit floaty). Was able to carry horses and bicycles around - a core mechanic for any game (sarcasm mark here).

Well done making this game!

Very griefy but in that addictive kind of way. Took me longer than I'd want to admit to finish :) Very nice

The evil clouds kept killing me! Art is themeatic throughout the game and overall very solid game for the theme, great job! Super silly and turns out nature real does hate me xD
