From Nothing by foodzilla

[raw]
made by foodzilla for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

An attempt at a game design I made before, this time with a more cell-city-driven builder idea.

The number keys will change what you are building, and holding spacebar will feed a new cell or build up an existing one. The intent was to make a bit of a 'tower defense/enemy waves' type game.

It didn't quite get there, but the building and grabbing aspect feels a lot of fun. I want to work on making the game visually more fun to play.

There was no time for set win conditions, but the intention was to make a fun little environment that you would build-up and grow.

My partner, nitacku, is responsible for any music that comes together.

While I was able to get a lot done, there was a lot of problems in using pixi and adapting old work into this one.
Nitacku had trouble with inspiration for the music, and I was constantly bogged down quashing bugs that messed with the integrity of the game (like spawning a dozen waves at once).

Because I got a lot done, I want to share and see the opinions of a post-jam version of this to get real feedback. I will post that and share as soon as I am able.

Hey there! Fun agario clone. Nice work! But I didnt feel like there was a big challenge / or the ramp-up was too slow! Great submission though!

Played around for a bit until I got the hang of it. Aside from what you said about the lack of win conditions, the only other thing the game needs is just to be a bit faster and smoother. Nice work.

Graphics are cute! It's on a very initial level but could develop on to something more and I'd love to see more features that diverse it from agar.io in the future. One thing, I didn't understand what SPACE does and there was no audio for me (I don't know if it's intended). .-. Even at this level it was fun to play and eat :v :D

Nice take on agar.io genre, nice idea, but there is a lack of challenge - I only lost once because I really tried to.
