made by Paulo Brunassi for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Spikt is a robot who lost everything and was thrown in the trash, but that refuses to give up, in this game you control him in his quest for freedom.

To control Spikt use your keyboard arrows and Space to jump (when available)

Special thanks to Derek Volker for the amazing music used in the game.

Really liked the way the robot move before got any part, it fits its character that refuses to give up. Also liked the level design that makes you easily understand what you have to do and where you can pass or not without saying a single word. I think it lacked some kind of sound effects for the jump, waypoints, traps and stuff, but it doesnt really affect the game, it would be more of an improving. Nice job!

First, let me say thank you for checkpoints. This game can be quite a challenge. The graphics are very fitting for the game's story and the music was enjoyable. The gameplay was slow at first, but the I realized it was because I was missing something. Great job.

Really liked the graphics and the music! The camera movement could be a little disorienting at times, especially when falling. Great game!

I got stuck after getting the jump, I am not sure if I am missing something but I tried to go back a ways and didn't see anything. Still a solid game, movement feels fair, and music is really good for atmosphere. One thing is that I wish checkpoints refilled your health as well, since it's a bit odd to die in one hit after a checkpoint in most games.

The audio contributed pretty well to the atmosphere and it was really nice to have checkpoints regularly. I didn't understand I could go back to find the arms the first time because I didn't see the other platform (I only checked again after I saw the other robot in your screenshot x) ). Also I got stuck under a vertical moving platform once :/
Other than that, I had fun ^^

This was a nice game, I liked the atmosphere and the idea that you put yourself together :) I would have liked a way to peek downwards as I was guessing many times if I should take a leap of faith. Graphics were neat and fitting. Good game overall, would have enjoyed more of it but alas the time limit.

@landosystems, @nachtwitch Thank you very much for the feedback <3

@blotosaur yes, I didn't had the time to improve the camera, thanks for the feedback.

@plepletier valeu manoo! Sim não deu tempo de deixar a camera mais suave mesmo. valeu pelo feedback

@brokenmirrormedia you got stuck in a gate with a lever? If so you just go back and on the end of the platform you'll see a moving platform (that you need the jetpack to hop on it), just follow the path and you'll find the arms (needed for the last gate). Thanks for the feedback.

Really cool game, fun platforming mechanics with great art and mood. The only critisism I can give, is I don't think the moving platform art fits too well with the rest of the game (too flashy). Also there is no ceiling at the end gate, so you can just jump over it! Doesn't actually let you beat the game without arms, but it confused me as to what I needed to do.

The soundtrack is nice and fitting. The graphics are pretty nice as well. The game is slow though, I don't like the moving platforms that much as I have to ride them for a long time. I would "shorten" them.

Also the camera moving quickly when I turn around is weird. I was able to jump over the gate with the lever, so I thought I had to continue doing stuff there(even though I haven't found the arms) so I was very confused, but now I read that I was suppose to go back. There are generally collision bugs in the game(like getting stuck on the two platforms that meet - one going vertical, one horizontal).

In general, pretty good, it fits the theme and was quite fun to play. There were some details that could have been done a bit better, for example the camera when turning and jumping. But overall very nice!

Great use of color black. The graphics are really pleasant to look at, the game gives me some serious old school platformer vibes, which I grew up with. There were a few glitches, but nothing game breaking. Also, I'd do something with the little dark lines/cracks on background panels. They're quite disturbing, and don't look that good. The rest of the game I loved. Nice job!

Very much enjoyed the Metroidvania style of the game. Going left at the beginning is standard video game logic, but those things are often missed in the rush of game jam. Excellent progression: Not too long but full game. :)

First playthought I could not get past a single obstacle. Only by reading the comments I went left again and realized that I had missed that elevator (it takes a lot of time for it to come back). I downloaded it again and did a second run, but the maze is huge and I lost track. I never got to my second upgrade. The mood and graphics are really nice, but would have suited me better with a bit more compact world. A really solid entry anyway, good job!

Cool. The world seemed too big, making you wait for the platforms to come, but that gave a nice mood, specially when falling :scream:  As someone already said, there are some bugs involving the platforms, making you get into the wall etc.

Graphics are nice. Good job!

I enjoyed your take on "start with nothing". I liked the level design and how you needed each part to move forward. The camera while jumping made me feel a bit sick after a while though.

Otherwise good job!

Amazing game! First I didn't got "it," but then I turned left and then it clicked. I like the idea of the missing limbs and how it becomes a small Metroidvania a lot.

But there seems to be something fishy with the elevators and hit boxes. Sometimes I got stuck in a wall, when I stand half on the elevator and the elevator moves down (as it seems to also move the player down, into the walls) or when standing under a moving elevator. And it seems some of the elevators are getting "out of sync" and I'm not sure, if those shouldn't keep the same rythm.

But overall I liked this game!

So...I was able to get to the red robot and I instantly was able to both jump and have hands. Then I roamed and found the orange robot, and then my claws vanished (I still could have jumped) When I went back to the red robot (now being able to jump), it was gone, so I could not get back my arms. However, I simple jumped over the wall with the lever, and won the game :^D

The music wasn't too much. But not annoying. The art was good. Even the subtle randomness in the black walls (no idea what it's called) went to show the detail put into this! Nice game!

It's a pretty neat platformer but it has some problem with UX. First of all, the beginning, it's not obvious that I need to go back, as the camera has offset to the right side of my display. Secondly, the level design is too horizontal, add more vertical gameplay in your future projects.

@tommislav I understand that, I spent a lot of time trying to develop a new artstyle and I didn't had that much to polish the game. Thanks for your feedback.

@mrstari, @sillyman987, @kiryu, thank you for playing.

It was fun collecting the parts and gaining more abilities over time. This game has a nice progression to it. I got confused when one of the parts made me lose my arms. Not sure if that was intentional
