Deep Station Fine by ancient-pixel

[raw]
made by ancient-pixel for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Welcome aboard Deep Station Fine Commander. You and your officers will embark on a great adventure about Klongons. promo00.PNG Lt.Wax, a freightful Science Officer, Chef O´Bran an always horny engineer, Gunslinger Joe the rambling security guy and Doctor P, the doctor aboard the station with a small alcohol problem. promo01.PNG You only need a mouse to play it. Consult your officers and choose your orders wisely. promo02.PNG This is a space parody heavily inspired by Star Trek DS9 with strong language. Although i would have loved to build in minigames where you have to defend the station, play dabbo or have random encounters. The time only allowed for one "episode" and little tidbits here and there. The theme might be a stretch, but i hamfisted it in whereever i could ;)

I like the retro feel and look it has, reminds me of a dark room in some ways.

I would've liked some more content in it, but understandably it's a jam game. The simple aesthetic worked for the game, and it was pretty neat otherwise. Good job!

Oh my, I love how simply and succesfully the characters were created (if you know what I mean). A really nice game, I enjoyed it a lot <3 Really good writing and the simple graphics was perfect, giving a bit of retro vibe. Love it!

@diptoman Thank you! I am already working on a second mission and a Dabbo minigame. So with a little bit of luck, this game will be my next main project! Be sure to follow it on itch.io to get updates :)

@dane-tesla Thx alot! You know, back in the old days, we wouldnt have something to write on and for playing we used sticks and stones. But sometimes someone of us got urt that way, so we sat around the settlements campfire and told each others stories. Boy could we tell stories...

I cant really say I understood what my goal in the game was but I liked the writing of the game. Also I cant tell if all the L's being replaced by N's was a bug or not. Also I think the game looked great.

I'm so far from Star Trek, my mom watched it a lot when I was a kid, so my knowledge is very sketchy. But even that was enough to understand the types of characters you created here. And they're funny enough! I like this super simple mechanic and interface, like playing an old text game. For my taste it's a good stylistic choice. And yes, there're a lot of just funny games, but you have a pure verbal comedy here, that's a plus. What I miss is background music and sounds.

Really liked the minimal presentation here, and all the dialogue with Mr "If you know what I mean". Spelling caused some confusion at points but I understand that happens when pushing something out in so little time. Keep it up!

Honestly the game was confusing for me, I'm not sure if you were making a lot of spelling mistakes or if it's a "part" of the game, but either way it was just making things harder for me.

Interesting idea, and presented really well. It seemed to meander a lot, so I couldn't really tell if I was making progress, and eventually I lost interest in the story.
I think something as simple as changing text colours when different people were speaking would have helped a lot. Having said all that I did play for quite a while.

Good stuff :8ball:
