Blood, Sweat, and Money! by WiseClock

[raw]
made by WiseClock for LD 44 (COMPO)

My first time for a compo... Well, much harder than the jam. You just got too much to work on within a short range of time. :v Best of luck everyone!

About the game.

You need to construct buildings to develop your new country. However, every time a building finishes building, the workers die -- well they are too tired. Your workers trade their life for your country's development and GDP! Please clap for them >=)

Each building has different effects, positive and/or negative.

Cohesion: Speeds up the production or workers.

GDP: Attracts foreign visitors.

Stability: Decreases chance of defectors.

Occasionally, your worker will turn into defectors -- based on your stability. And there will be visitors from other countries, too -- based on your GDP (and you need to have at least one Attraction).

Defectors are in red, and they continuously affect Stability and Cohesion -- just click to kill them.

Visitors are in green, they decrease Cohesion but give GDP. You can click to capture them, they'll be your new workers, but this will decrease Stability by 1 (one-time only).

Game starts in 1948 and will end in 2019, be prepared for the sudden black screen -- no one get no time for the polish, right?

You can resign and quit the dictatorship at any time by pressing the button at the top right corner.

===============================================================================

UPDATE:

There's a new version that fixes

1) Collisions between workers and building blueprints

2) Wrong placement checkings

... and now workers now decrease stability continously if you get too many of them.

Both updated version and original version links are listed below, please rate me on the original one though.

Cool! I'm not sure where the theme comes in but nice work on the 3D modeling.

@kypello It's basically trading GDP/buildings with your workers' life. But yeah after you point this out I figured it's not that clear :joy:

Great idea for strategy game - units as main resourse!

Cool game, I had stability and cohesion up pretty high and things seemed to go well enough, more workers seemed like the best course of action

@saladon Yeah, I believe the space I put between buildings is too narrow... Sometimes they can't get to their destinations.

@shp Right, workers' life is your currency

A fun and simple game that went well with the theme. It felt like I ran out of space really fast, but that's probably just my inability to plan things out. Overall, I definitely enjoyed playing the game, though I had to mute it after a while :b

Pretty cool game, though I would have liked to have a fast forward button or something like that. The theme is indeed not very clear, like kypello said, but I don't think thats a big deal.

Not a bad little game, especially for the time you had, It was a little unclear to me what I was aiming for and I struggled to get my cohesion up, but it didn't seem to make much difference. So yeah gameplay a little unclear but what you achieved in the time was quite impressive :)

For my idea, I am not very like this kind of game, but you had done a lot of jobs this weekend! The game is full of politic illusion and the socialism things, even I don't have a clear idea about the different properties of my country, but I have fun to watch these small worker work together, so Moxing! Good Job!
