Snots Quest by Lodugh

[raw]
made by Lodugh for LD 44 (JAM)

Did you ever feel sorry for all the slimes slaughtered by everyone without hesitation? Well in this game you can finally help them by leading them out of a scary dungeon and giving them back their freedom! snotsquestlogo.png Screenshot from 2019-04-30 21-28-18.png

We are very glad we actually got it somewhat finished, because we once again went a little to high with our scope..

The game could definitely use a lot more polish which will probably happen in a post jam version :).

There is controller support as well as two player coop(though both are mostly untested).

Would be great if you try it out!

Made with the Godot Engine, Krita, Musescore and Ardour.

I really like the graphics and the idea with trading cells. But unfortunately the dhop didn't work for me. I got enough cells but couldn't spend them on Upgrades, maybe fix this while Rating is open, so that every aspect of the game can be rated. Nice work tho!

@remusnomos Glad you liked it :). The shop works for me but you got to have enough cells, because it wont let you go below 40(added that to the help menu).

The graphics is really good! You even got an intro! I don't like the "darken" effect though, make it so hard to see the traps.

Also the shop doesn't seem to work...

The graphics and atmosphere were great! Dodging enemies, not so much, but everything else was fine! I loved the slimes animation. He looks so wobbly!

@snowtv @flashviper @jayometric Thanks, great that you all liked it!

@snowtv Did you read my previous post? You probably didnt have enough life cells. The light cells would have helped ;).

@flashviper Yeah the enemies are sadly quite unfinished...

I like the atmosphere in this game. Pretty spooky, although it was maybe too dark and hard to see. Controls felt pretty good until I got to the wall that required wall jumps. I just couldn't get it to work. Maybe I'm losing hand-eye coordination in my old age. Not sure. Also, the opening cut scenes went by too fast. I barely had time to read them before the next screen popped up.

This is a solid entry on all categories. I have just a few notes. I felt that the initial light was a bit too weak, and I managed to finish the game only when I reached the first vendor with enough cells to buy like 4 levels of light. Also the fact that you need to have at least 40 cells to buy something is a bit limiting. Also on the main menu I couldn't see the help button at first so I didn't even know that I could attack..maybe my display is too dark?
Anyway I liked your game very much, great job!

PS: loved the graffiti

Cool little game. I loved the upgrade mechanic, and all the graffiti on the walls. The sound and art design are both good as well! The only thing I would have liked is either and upgrade to jumping, or make the platforming a little easier, it at least felt like I needed almost pixel perfect jumps

Well done!

This game has one of the nicer menus that I have seen this Ludum dare. It's cool to see some attention being put into a unique main menu instead of just simple buttons on boring backgrounds. It's sort of an overlooked part of games in LD. Well done <3

Beautifull graphics! I just think that the wall jumps are not "right". Anyway one of the best entries I played so far. Good job!

It has a Night in the Woods Reference, interesting lighting (or lack thereof), and zombies! :D 10/10

Absolutely delightful! The graphics are beautiful and I'm so impressed you managed to get it all done, plus an intro in just 3 days. The music was very atmospheric and went with the dark, dank setting very nicely. And the slimes were just adorable.
I loved the idea of trading life cells for advanced skills but sadly the shop didn't work for me. I had over 40 life cells but just couldn't choose anything off the trade menu (though there's no instruction on how to pick so I tried lots of keys but nothing worked, could you tell me what I should be pressing?). Also I don't know how you get more life cells to trade with.
I really like the way the slime shrinks as it takes damage and slowly slides down walls.
Fantastic entry.
