Play as the fearless captain of a crew of Vikings on a journey to save your village. As with any good story you run into a few problems along the way, whether it be monsters or mother nature herself. Unfortunately nobody travels the sea without offerings to the gods, whether it be the gold you collect along the way... Or your own crew members. Run out of crew and the journey is over. Can you bring everyone back to the village safely?

My first LD Entry! barely got it finished in time, and unfortunately had to cut some things that were planned..but it was a blast to work on anyways, and I'm happy with what we got. Let me know of any bugs you find, I'd like to polish this up later on.

Coding by me, art by Jaclyn, Collin, Cooper, and Toby, music by Jarrod and Toby.

The graphics and music are really good! Everything in your game looks like it belongs there. The gameplay feels a little rough, as it's hard to hit enemies without getting hit yourself, but I got used to this pretty fast. The biggest problem I have with this game is how the coins needed to pass the level without losing crew members isn't shown. Being able to see that would be nice.

The pixel art has a certain charm to it, I really enjoyed looking at my little ship traveling through the ship. It does set the mood of the game. I feel like the music fits the game as well.
The combat mechanics are... rough. If you happen to get too close to the purple enemies, they'll continually jump at you, without you really being able to do anything besides hitting them quickly before you lose too many coins.

You got something nice here, just gotta polish it up, tweak a few things and fix some bugs.

@klekky I wanted to make the axe swing a little on the slow side so that the combat wasn't incredibly easy, but I agree with you and @skylark721 that it is a little rough. Takes some getting used to for sure.

That is a very good point about being able to see the coin requirement for the level! I was really rushing to finish up the UI, so it didn't get the attention it deserves. That will go into a future version!

Hey, good job! I love the nordic aesthetic! You did a great job on nailing it, the story being told is really enjoyable. But the gameplay was really rough. The lack of vertical attacks made killing monsters above or below you really painful, as there was nothing you could do other than wait for them to come to your level. What really broke it though were bugs. I found two game breaking bugs: once the ship spawned beyond the map's borders and other time I got knocked back through the wall and clipped out of the map. I had to restart the game on both times, starting all over again, which felt really bad. But yeah, I pulled through in the end, and I know how it is to do a game jam, and I think the pixel art and the story makes it worth it. Good job!

Good job! Really nice atmosphere and design. I enjoyed the narrative and the premise. Like others have pointed out, the combat was a bit harsh. But nothing a bit of polish wouldn't fix.

Great game! The pixel art makes the mood in this game just right and the sounds and music only add to that. Controlling the character feels smooth and almost everything is understandable from the start.

The only problem I had with this game is that I almost ragequit because I could not find how to start the game. In addition the overworld transitions from/to black were too long.

@siimer Thanks for the feedback! I put the menu controls on the itch.io page, but you're right, they should definitely be in the game as well.
