Minimum Viable Piggy by Macks

[raw]
made by Macks for LD 44 (JAM)

Minimum Viable Piggy is our submission for the Ludum Dare 44 Game Jam. Follow Hamilton the Pig on his journey through the kitchen and battle the chefs trying cook our portly porker before he gets all the truffles they have! Our pig is constantly on the move and needs the truffles to stay alive, the skinnier the swine, the faster he's determined to get his snacks. But watch out, don't be too greedy or our bloated boar will slow down, making it easier for tonight's dinner to be a luau!

Controls: - Enter: Start the game - Arrow Keys or WASD : Move the pig around - Space: jump - Shift or F: attack

Thanks for playing! :pig:

Note: we had to make a small modification after the deadline due to a broken warp point.

I liked the effects - both audio and visual, especially the facial animations for the piggy. They are funny. Background sound was a nice beat! The art was nice but the background colors were a bit too clashing for my eyes. Movement was intuitive and easy to control, levels seemed a bit too complicated for me since you don't really see in which directions you have to go to advance. Overall well done!

I like the idea of having the greedy pig get slowed down by eating too much

Hahaha! Oh gosh those sound effects had me laughing after a long day of work, hahahaha! Thank you for making this game! I also liked the music. It took me a few seconds to realize you hold the attack button instead of press it repeatedly. The levels felt a little long and the enemies were a bit tough. I just wanted to keep running and flying! It was very smart to build the starting pit too deep so I had to figure out you could double jump (infinitely!) When pigs fly on a cloud of their own farts, haha. Good game!

I loved the idea, the pig is great, very funny. Good graphics and great audio. I got lost a little by the map but that's okay. Good job!

Great graphics and good use of theme! The movement was a little slippery and I couldn't really figure out how I was supposed to attack. But the infinite double jump at the cost of life was really clever. Good stuff!

Really cute and hilarious, but there were a lot of bugs that I found frustrating (For example, chefs spawned right on top of me and prevented me from moving). That said, I liked almost everything else about it. The sounds were great, the art was great, and the overall idea of the jump was awesome.

I love the sound effects and the jazzy-weird feel on the music. Graphics are pretty and gameplay is nice. Only issue is sometimes a cook can spawn very close to the pig and actually start "riding" and brutalizing it without possibility for the player to fight back!

Great little platformer with an innovative mechanic, a lot of heart, and great game-feel.
Love the humour. That was super fun.

Theme was right on; humor was good, audio was good. My only issue was that the overall layout of the level was not clear and so I didn't really have much idea of where to go after I got the cloth in the level, and just kept dying from there on. But, not a bad game by any means. Pretty cool concept, and who doesn't like piggies? :)

I had to rate this! Because I also made a game with farting piggies (not here, it's called Porcellini, you can look for it on play store) But talking of you:) I absolutely loved it! First because it was very playable , second because the graphics are so pretty and the mechanics that slow you down is well thought! The music is engaging and I loved the piggy's sound!
