At all costs by zimennik

made by zimennik for LD 44 (COMPO)

First of all: This game is hard. To understand everything you may have to die a couple of times. I advise you to read the description.

Story:

A poisonous mist came down to earth. You play as a survivor who managed to hide in a shelter. Resources in the shelter will last only a few days. What are you willing to sacrifice in order to survive?

Gameplay basics

Contol :video_game:

WASD - movement;

Mouse - look around;

"E" - Interact with items;

Esc - Lock/Unlock cursor;

Usefull info (you can find it in game) :

  • You need to eat at least once every 3 days.
  • You need to drink at least once every 2 days.
  • You need to survive for 20 days.
  • While on the surface, you will constantly lose health.
  • You need a toolbox for repairing and dismantling boards.
  • If your health drops to zero, you will die.

Good luck

Hints :star:

  • Keep your shelter warm (>50%). You will restore much more HP over night and farm will produce food more often.
  • You REALY need a toolbox! Get it as soon as posible.
  • Food also restore some HP!
  • Don't forget to collect food and water.
  • Farm works even faster if there is an additional light source.
  • There is a predator in the garage. Be careful! ;)

P.S. Many features was cutted from the game (for example buildings, craft, other materials, etc.)

P.S.S. Perhaps you will find an inaccurate translation in the game. Forgive me for this.

Good game, a survivor game where you quickly lose health as long as you're out collecting resources.
The use of eletricity and heat is also a very interesting add even more so with the increased health by being warm. mYBE maybe the repair kit being a one time could make it even more chalenging.

Cool and kinda creepy atmosphere, I like it! My game has constantly ticking health too, works great for this theme I think. Good job!

Very creepy atmosphere, needs polish and more to do, however the base is there for a pretty spooky survival game. It gives off great vibes and atmosphere!

All around nicely put together. The fog was a bit too harsh for my tastes, but suits the mood well. Solid job!

Wow, amazing game! There does seem to be a bug where the furnace keep on delivering warmth forever, not sure how that mechanic is supposed to work, overall, the game was quite well balanced! Its ashame there was no music for in the shelter though.

An interesting and scary little game. I love the atmosphere and the music. The gameplay is okay, but the surviving outside was a bit too difficult. Overall a fine LD game. Well done.

Pretty solid game base, the mood is very darkish and ambiental.

It needs some graphic love, but the polish grade is ok for a compo entry.

I agree with @caspercaper17 , the shelter absolutely need some music, it suffers from the lacks of.

In the overall I had fun and it's a very good work.

get your hands on a post compo version and polish/clean it!
I'll surely play games like this and maybe drop a dollar on it.

Gameplay loop is really solid, I understood what I had to do very easily and got straight into playing. And its fun :id:

Instructions are clear and interaction time is a nice touch. Really like the theme as well. Well executed.

One thing, life drain is a tad harsh whilst in the mist! The effort to recover health didn't warrant how quickly I lost it.

Well done, really enjoyed this one :)

Excellent mood and nice graphics, all the mechanics are a bit confusing at first, like all the broken machines, and which appliance needs which resource etc, but you can tell there was care put into it

It looks really good. The sensitivity was insanely high for me, but the gameplay was pretty fun. I like the atmosphere of the game; when I went outside I could just feel the pressure.

Really nice survival game! Had a bit of trouble understanding what to do but when I understood what I had to do it was fun. It was balanced really well, I almost died multiple times. Great job!

A bit confusing at first, you have to put a lot of time to understand what items to gather. Didn't finish it, was too hard for me x). I really don't like FPS with jump animation for the camera ;s, still a nice entry for a compo, i know how hard it can be !

I hand the total opposite experience.
I didn't understand what was going on, what my objectives are or even how to control them. I didn't understand why i was dying.
