Thoughts on the Theme

The theme is "Your life is currency". We aspired to this goal in 2 ways:

  1. You are a mercenary for hire in a dangerous job. Your life is the currency that your employers spend to achieve their goals.
  2. Your ships absorbs enemy damage as energy. When you run out of capacity, it explodes. However, that energy can used to trigger power-ups. Thus, your ship's "life" is the currency which you spend on those power-ups.

Intro Text

In the war-torn future, human life is one of the most valuable currencies. The AI Accords of 2246 forbid machines from choosing to harm a sentient being. Therefore, expendable mercenaries like you are recruited to pilot mostly autonomous ships of awesome destructive power in order to make those life-and-death decisions.

Your armed escort service has a rare advantage. Your salvaged Andromedan ship acts like a giant capacitor that can absorb energy weapon fire. You can harness this sea of current to power one of your custom upgrades. But be warned... if the batteries fill beyond capacity, you'll rediscover the old saying:

Andromedans live on PHASER'S EDGE.

Nice entry, liked the attention to detail in the graphics, parallaxed stars, etc. Found it easy enough to kite around the drones to avoid being hit.

I think it would be more fun if the firing mechanic was a bit more engaging, higher rate of fire and more bullets to kill enemies. Movement is a bit slow too.

Thanks for the feedback, @doug-graham and @leinades! I totally agree about needing to move faster with more bullets. I always say I'm going to save the last day for tweaking gameplay, and then I end up running out of time, despite my best intentions.

It's been too long since my Tyrian days! This is an awesome entry, and other than and vague roughness to the controls, I can't find anything to say. My escortee could have done a little more in their own defense lol, but it was definitely a great time!
