Omg, the new mayor decided some new budgetary cuts this year for the fire department, if you want to keep your job you will have to prioritize your rescue. Big Donations come from big donors, you will have to save the wealthy first ! But don't overdo it or wage-worker might notice it and you will get fired too. Good luck Hero !

Dev Process

We decided to make a game where the price of life is competing with the cost of the fire department sustainability. The game rules try to question the player about the duality between efficiency and ethic.

Loved the concept and and the design, and the Capitalist Fireman is a cute lil guy. It rarely felt like there were enough fires going on that I had to decide who to save though. Maybe if instead of a time limit, you had a limited amount of gas in your fire extinguisher?

I like the idea - and the mustache :)
Maybe the player movement should be smooth instead of step by step. And the idea of decision making could be improved if you had an indicator where someone needs help - currently I just helped everyone I saw

Love the art style! Very satisfying look. Sound is good too and complements the feeling

Maybe make the character a bit faster?

Lovely graphic design, I like this style very much, but why can't change the direction of the water gun?

Really enjoyed this one. Continual movement rather than tile-based would have been nice, but it was a cool idea for the theme and a fun, arcade-y game to play through.

thanks you for your feedback  . I changed the controls in the postMortem version (link in the description)

Nice game. I agree with other comments about movement. Fun little game idea though. Well done.

Game was nice to play. Wasnt paying attention to my karma the first time. But the second time i scored 3850 because i was doing some good things at the end of the game :D. But i think karma is the way to go for a big score. Is the option to shoot 2 buildings at the same time a hidden feature?

Really fun concept! I like the idea of having to make choices between people.

I'd like to be able to move the player a lot faster (saw you updated that in the PostMortem version); also, when I start dousing a building, the timer continues going down for the resident. I'd love if that timer stopped so that rather than trying to estimate if I have enough time to put out the fire, I can just get there in time and be set.

I was also able to extinguish a building from its side.

I think I got a pretty good score, but the game automatically reset before I could screenshot it. :( I think it was 4750?

Cool concept, and the music and SFX are really fun too!

I like this a lot. The music and art work are all really great. It's a more unique take on the theme than i've seen with a lot of other games. I agree with others that the movement is a bit slow, but you have fixed that since. It wasn't always clear where the buildings that were on fire were. A minimap or some other indicator might have helped. With a bit of polish this could be a really good game.

I liked the premise and the graphics style. The slow movement was a bit annoying though. I think it would also have been more interesting if it was easier to make strategic decisions, like if there was a minimap with all the fires on. Right now i barely had time to put out the fires I could see, which made any strategy moot.

Really cute game. An indicator for a nearby off screen fire would be nice. Also this may be just me but the tile by tile movement of the camera made me a bit disoriented. A smoother camera movement would be a good idea imo.

Like others have said, movement was sluggish so it was hard to get around. The only other thing was the 3D sound was a bit inconsistent so I'd go to the left expecting there to be fire when actually it was above me.

Very nice game :) I think smoother movement could have made the game more fluent. Also it was sometimes very hard to find one burning building. It would also been maybe more interesting if some people would give u negative karma. A pixel font could also maybe work better with the game ^^ The idea was very good and I had fun playing it. The music was pretty good but the sound effects were a bit too loud and kind of annoying :D Great game after all ^^

Very fun idea! Cute mood for sure. I loved the character. Would have wished for less clunky and choppy movement and indicators around the screen for where the fires were happening. Fun little game, though and great job!

Nice and fun game, but I found quite frustrating that you can only extinguish in the upward direction...
