I wish more creatures/trees spawned, after I got the faster-cooldown item I just found myself moving around without much to reap. The gameplay is lacking a little, I wish I could chain abilities and makle tactical choices. I was disappointed when a new purchase replaced the previous one rather than add to my abilities.

The graphics are basic, but everything is clear. You do have a player character and a house sprite that are differently scaled from the other art, which is a pet peeve of mine. The scheme is also pretty bright.

All in all, the basic concept is decent but I am missing some depth.

the game looks nice (is it terry pratchett inspired?) but somehow when I click on animals nothing happens

Thank you all for the feedback! It's super helpful. This has been so much fun.

@sanavesa only one upgrade should be able to reach the island.

@flaterectomy yeah, we ran out of time so the graphics were a mix of stuff we made and stuff we already had. If we release a bigger game, we'll definitely tweak the upgrade uses as well.

@ldjsq could be a bug. Are you in range and the cool-down timer is back to black?

The game got a lot more fun after a couple of upgrades.. I was nearly on the verge of quitting, but I thought I should check the house before I go.. then things got better.

For a game jam, it's a risky strategy making gameplay slow and unfun out of the gate. I imaging a lot of potential players will never get so far as to purchase an upgrade. I figure you've got about 1 minute to wow someone.

Definitely could use some audio.

@hwaet ok I tried again and now it works. But I bought the 2nd upgrade, then the 3rd and then the first. When buying the first my range went back to very small unfortunately (range is the white circle around you I suppose)

The beggining is a little boring but it gets fun when you play for a little while

I like diving into a game like this and playing to see where it takes you. The game needs better graphics and graphic tweaks. But it has a great feeling and put a smile on my face a few times. Thanks for making a fun game!

I liked the graphics, was a bit disappointed when I spent my souls to buy another upgrade and it replaced my previous upgrade. Also it seems like animals/plants just don't spawn fast enough sometimes. Good entry though, enjoyed it!

Like others, I didn't realize I was trading upgrades instead of combining them, so I ran out of souls.
Gotta feed that hungry Death. Nice graphics!

This is a silly little game. I have a few critiques though, that I think could help.

It's not really clear how much the bike costs. Showing it would add an incentive to continue playing.

It's sometimes hard to click on the animals. Maybe the click should just swing, even if there's nothing there. That, or the animal hitbox could be larger.

You should also explain the game's bartering mechanics, at least in the description on this page. It took me a while to figure out that I could even buy anything.

I like the idea of replacing the scythe with other harvesting tools; that's creative. The pixel art is charming too. Nice work on that.

Definitely a lot more fun once I understood the time limit and the upgrades. Do plants and animals tend to spawn near others of the same kind? Meaning, is it poor strategy to reap all animals or plants of the same kind? I hope that is true, for strategy reasons. And I'd like to see the effect highlighted better so the strategy concerns become more clear. Maybe reaping an animal would like seedlings behind that turn into plants later or something?

How much does that bike cost?? Nice job. Could use audio. I'm glad I discovered the upgrades. I thought I could stack upgrades, but realized I couldn't.

Cool little game! The story behind it is pretty funny too XD! The graphics were nice but I wish that there were some kind of sound affects when you clicked on something.
