Hunt the Quantpus by quantumjim

[raw]
made by quantumjim for LD 42 (JAM)

A text-based dungeon crawler, based on the classic game 'Hunt the Wumpus'. You explore a multiverse that is being collapsed by the 'Quantpus'. You need to jump from universe to universe to find the Quantpus and stop the carnage. But as the universes around you keep dying, you need to avoid the annihilation.

The heart of this game runs on a quantum computer: specifically on one of IBM's publicly accessible prototype devices. If you believe in the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, this means we create a real quantum multiverse for you to explore.

More details on the process and tools used can be found here.

How did you get the game to run on a quantum computer?

IBM has some prototype devices on the cloud. You can create jobs and run them using Python framework called QISKit.

I made the game so that the part required for the quantum computer didn't need to interact with the player (it essentially designs the level). So then I could run the quantum part during the game jam, and then the game just uses the data.

This is really cool. Aside from the awesome quantum stuff the text UI is nice too.

I saved the multiverse! The concept behind the game is really awesome, the game itself not so much. The next interface works well. Good hacky-job!

Interesting game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/x7vAI59f_1I

wow! Complex approach to the theme, I like what this can become, although I am not sure I have the brains for it, it sound definitely like a good text based strategy game
