EVIL Ship by Tamas Turi

[raw]
made by Tamas Turi for LD 43 (JAM)

The Game

In this game a boat must be operated. Your ship consists of several blocks in which you can build freely. Each block is responsible for the production of a certain resource. You must give human sacrifices to maintain the production.

During your journey evil gods make your business worse, appearing in divine interferences. During the interferences, gods may require some raw materials from you.

Your goal is to maintain the balance within the ship and reach the finish line.

You can download the game from here: https://ikturi.itch.io/evil-ship

About the gameplay

Five blocks can be built in the game, each block produces a different type of resource. To operate a room you need to sacrifice people, the Room block is an exception to this rule. Sacrifice fills resource production to 100% within the block. A status bar shows in the blocks how productive the current block is. Every second, the productivity of the block is reduced, so it has to be filled with people. Various events occur during the game, resulting in increased consumption of certain resource. The upper panel shows the status of consumption/production. The indicator turns to red if the consumption of certain resource more than the production. The exclamation mark shows that the consumption of raw resource a particular block is more than your production. At this point, you need to build additional blocks or fill the existing ones with people to have the right production.

Just tried it out! I had a lot of fun with it. The graphics and the concept are great. It took a while to really understand how the game works and what the numbers meant, but I got the hang of it after a while!

(Also, you should probably put your game link properly under the "Downloads and Links" section!)

Amazing game! Art and Audio is perfect. I still don't fully understand what the game is about, perhaps a more detailed guide. It is great nonetheless!

Beautiful art and a great soundtrack! Really amazed by this. For me personally, gameplay becomes a little repetitive after a while but it has potential. Great job guys! Keep it up

Did you really made all the art in 72h ? That's actually amazing. The game is fun but become repetitive after a few minutes, maybe you should make the game a bit shorter. Otherwise it's pretty much perfect.

I didn't really get how to balance out the resources. one great addition would be to get some info when you hover over an icon in the event tracker.
beautiful graphics!

Cool game! Art is brilliant. Once you understand how the game works, it's fun! I think it's perhaps too long, but the rest is awesome. Great work!

Nice audio and graphics, but gameplay is a bit repetitive, I would have like to upgrade the rooms. I was a bit lost with which room produce which quantity of ressource, a small "+/-5 food" flying text for example would give more feedback on actions

The Art is amazing, but I had no idea whats going on and the tutorial didn't really clear it up. The style is beautiful but I think some text at least when you hover over something would be super helpful. Music was also nice, good job!

The art is pretty, the music is good, the concept isn't bad. Sometimes the vehicle moves right as I'm about to click on a button, so that was a bit annoying. Good game, thanks for making it.

It is a bit hard to understand what is going on but it plays well! The constant zooming in and out would be nice to be able to turn off!

The presentation is absolutely amazing. But I feel the game falls short in the actual gameplay. There isn't much player feedback and it's very un-intuitive. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The exclamation marks pop up to tell me... what exactly? I then look at my resources in the top left and I have... too much of a resource? I wanted to like it because you've clearly put a lot of effort into the presentation. Like, the graphics are gorgeous!

Yes the art was amazing! The music was great! I could NOT figure out the game, though. Read the help several times and tried playing around. Maybe it was just me.

I liked the drawing of the game and the concept, on the one hand, this game is about management, but if you move away from the graphics and think that you really sacrifice people in order to go further to the goal, it becomes scary) Thank you)

I am really impressed by the graphics, the game is relaxing but still challenging.
I like the mood and the design of the ship. Very polished for a game jam!

Outstanding artwork, music and sound effects! Gameplay got a little repetitive and its not that intuitive. Not sure if I was playing it the right way but I could barely get a quarter of the way through  ... I agree with @fnissalot that the zooming in and out may not be needed, especially if the camera has a slight sway.

Otherwise, this is a really well-done game overall. Very well polished.

**Scenario:** _bedroom1_ [4 people], _bedroom2_ [4 people]

**Action:** sacrifice 2 people

**Result:** _bedroom1_ [2 people], _bedroom2_ [4 people]

**_Expected Result:_** _bedroom1_ [3 people], _bedroom2_ [3 people]

The expected result would allow both rooms to begin creating another person, instead of just _bedroom1_. If this was a design choice, I can respect that. In terms of efficiency, this bothered the hell out of me lol.

Anyway, the game looks great. Hella polished for a jam. Good job!
