I love this concept of "You miss you get less space" and you did it pretty well. My only problems are that you can't just hold left mouse to shoot and that a good player could easily never miss and survive forever, fortunately that isn't me. Congrats on this great game.

33,468! Beat that, suckers!

I'm surprised to see so few games like this. People were posting about stuff like this after the theme was announced, but I guess they didn't have the skills to execute that you do! Very fun and smooth feeling... not a compliment I could pay most LD games. I really like how the end sneaks up on you. Would have liked to see more enemy types, since the most surprising aspect to me was how fun it was remembering to shoot the normal enemies three times and the armored ones five. Turns out, it really matters in this game! Special shoutout to the shrink powerup... clutch.

Pretty solid entry!

The theme feels well-used, the graphics and juice are good, the controls are good and works as expected.

Minor gripes:
- The gameplay does start to feel repetitive pretty quickly, clicking the mouse repeatedly is not fun. An auto-fire with a capped maximum fire rate would have been good.
- Would have liked to see a health bar or something on enemies to see how many shots they still will take before dying.
- The music is a bit too loud and repetitive and doesn't feel like it suits the atmosphere of the game.
- Why are you shooting a bubble gun? I dunno, it doesn't feel intuitive, but this is very minor :)

If I had one thing to change it would be the enemy walking on top of the green spot instead of below, if you did it for an extra penalty to the player then you might consider using a different visual feedback, other than that it's good and well executed ;)

14. Aug 2018 · 08:35 UTC
THis is a challange but nothing more, there is no fun in clicking the mouse repeatedly while being punished for every single mistake in a type of game that you definetely will make many mistakes. After 1 death player doesnt feel like playing again because WHY? For me its a type of game that i would give as a challange "i bet you cant make it to xxx level".

absolutely love the artstyle, i just really dig the low resolution pixely art stuff. great gameplay, ties nicely with the theme, and the chiptune music really hammers down the artstyle. movement feels great, bullet speed is just right, and the monsters exploding in a shower of tiny particles makes it all the more satisfying. reminded me of how badly my game needed a screen shake. innovation wise a bit... well its a simple top down shooter, but i mean i kind of did the same thing so you still get 3.5/5 :)

PS: my high score is 19589, try beat that :)

that is a really really strong contender. Congrats! I love the fact that you get less accurate the faster you click, it ties into the running out of space mechanic incredibly well. Shooting is really satisfying, the art is great and the audio works really well. Jeez, I actually can't find a flaw in this. What the hell  I've got this saved and I'll be playing it again when I've got a bit more time

@tuism First of all, thank you for feedback. I liked how you just mentioned the bad parts, thats what game developers need, right

1) I know the gameplay gets boring because of clicks. But the auto fire system will probably destroy the entire game.

2) I thought its easy to count the shots, three for zombies, five for knights, the health bar will fill the screen.

3) I agree on that, i suck at music making

4) At first it ment to be a bush/plant gun, instead of shrinking powerups, you will burn them and get extra space etc. But the bush didnt look good and people cant realise its a bush so i replaced it with a "buble gun"

This is a great game. It's highly addictive and I kept trying to beat my high score (even though I am really bad at it). It was also a very innovative interpretation of the theme although I found myself dying from zombies constantly rather than worrying about running out of space. I also like the art style, which was really consistent although a bit simple. Other than that, I will definetly be playing this again and I hope to see you add more mechanics and features in the game.

This game is very well polished, and to think it was done by one person in 48 hours is insane. It's very addictive and I learnt quickly not to spam shoot too much. I thought the idea was great, and you incorporated the theme amazingly! Good job, I'm saving the link to this to play in the future!

@ytaha It would have been nice, but for a jam (compo even!) this is perfect. I am totally amazed at how much you were able to make in such short period of time! The overall polish makes the game look and feel good. I also read some of the comments saying that you thought you were bad at pixel art, but I think your are great!

your game is great!
She has very potential!

I do not quite understand the belt with life.
Sometimes I think it's a progress bar to the next level
Sometimes is it a life belt?
Sometimes when I kill the creatures, this bar doesn't change, and sometimes changes.
It made me a little confused.
But I had a great time playing this game.
Maybe you do additional maps or levels

Hey that's pretty great! At first I was pissed because I couldn't auto fire and then I realized really quickly why that would have been a very bad design choice. I don't really think there way anything in the game that I'd change except maybe make it a bit more clear in the beginning that if you miss, that's where the green blobs come from. Oh, nice transitions too.

Incredible. This game is really well polished, and fun. At first, I thought the shooting mechanic was terrible due to the inaccuracy, but I soon learned that I had maintain a decent rate of fire to keep "recoil" down. This became one of my favourite features of your game because of how fundamental it is for lasting longer and getting a higher score. The crosshair size increase was also a really good indication of how innacurate my bullets would be. The art was great, and the music was enjoyable (although I think I went slightly deaf after first starting your game). well done, I had a lot of fun :)

@jorbits The aspect ratio really pisses me off. Because i use a pixelator, it should be 16:9 (because of an odd problem) The parts that are black technically out of bounds but it draws somehow. I will try a different solution. Thanks for the name typing bug, i dont know how did i miss that

Awesome! For future development, i would consider including some form of upgrade system/powerups to help deal with large groups of enemies. e.g. shotgun/rocket launcher/penetrating weapon like a laser that cuts through lines of enemies. I would also create music that fits the game a little better, i.e. faster paced to match the gameplay, and several tracks for different levels etc. Perhaps consider adding multiplayer? Having an extra player would help with enemies but also punish hard when two players miss the target! Definitely in my top 10 that I've played so far, well done.

@jamesolivermusic Amazing suggestions. New weapons is coming, a rocket launcher is really good like a tier 4 weapon, if you miss, extra punishment. I think its a bit early or late for multiplayer. I would definetly add multiplayer if i release this game on steam. I am thinking about a remake with alot more polish and depth. And maybe a artist and musician to help me out

Nice game. Good pixel art, and nice sound effects and music. The idea behind it was also pretty good, it made it difficult that you had to not shoot too recklessly or you run out of space. Bosses didn't feel particularly special though - just higher health enemies. Perhaps add some special boss mechanics.
