LD48.Claustrophobia by deformhead

Welcome ! Claustrophobia (Ludum Dare 42 Theme: Running out of space) is built in plain HTML5/JavaScript (62ko compressed) with a framework I am developping.
Rules :
- each step cost 1 life
- life lost shrinks your vital space
- bombs are dangerous...
- commands : arrow keys
I'd like to :
- add sfx (with a "buzzz" increasing when the noisy shadow shrinks)
- add explosion effects when a bomb hits the player
- add some monologues in each level to add real depth to the chlaustrophobic effect
- add much more levels
- add mobile inputs support
This was my first Game Jam, so I hope you'll like this game. Thank you for your support.

I also like the mechanics like @ghen said, it reminds me too of superhot, and everything is really smooth.
Last level is cruel...
@biodiesel Yes, each enemy has a specific pattern.
@nnnikki Yes, I'd like to.

Some sounds and music would really pull everything together!
And I love this mix between puzzle and die and retry, very fun
GG o/
The tight camera did make discovering and memorizing the enemy patterns better.
Even while it had a great mood, some music and sound effects would have really helped as well.
Major props for using your own engine as well..!!
The only main problem (or counter-point to the popular opinion) I see is that it's more of a memory game vs puzzle game: there's no way to see how bombs will behave other than get killed and remembering their pattern. Essentially, we're punished for not knowing, rather than not thinking.
The graphics remind me of a Game Boy game, which is really cool. Loved the artstyle itself, too.
The level design is clever and satisfying.
And that last level... Well played man, well played.
I'd definitely play more levels of this game.
Only missing a few sounds and it would be great.
Nice work.
Great work
Liked the graphics, and the levels were good.
It wans't so clear to recognaized the path of the bombs, and the puzzles felt a bit too linar for me.
Awesome job!
(Psst! Btw if you ever want some music made for your game I'd be interested!)
Have fun out there!
@phlip45 @sebbernery The goal of this first jam was more a challenge to myself and the framework I am developing rather than win the competition. I picked few old spritesheets of mine, created new ones for the jam. To respect the rules, I didn't wanted to be rated on my graphics. :)
Would be great to see more levels for it!
well done !
Graphics are simple but nice, the game is a little short IMO.
For the first jam it's impressive, and +1 for doing it with your own framework :o
btw, maybe you could checkout our game, not our framwork but work in a browser too ahah
