As a fan of Mega Man I really enjoyed this. Reminded me a bit of Xover. My only complaint is when I restarted the game after dying sometimes I'd fall right back into the pit and die again.

The retro feel is really nice! I like the concept, but i couldn't really play it, same as @asixjin . I kept respawning and immdiately falling into a pit, often restarting 5+ times. I died often because i fell into the holes earlier than expected. I would have loved to get some control instructions in game. Good entry overall!

The GameBoy style art is nice, but gameplay feels just like any endless runner and not a genre mashup.

Really loved the art style but the player is dying on the edge too. You should look into that too much dying ruins the fun you expect it while look at photos.

I would rather start over at the very beginning when I die than right where I died. Controlls should be more obvious than "x" and "c". You run out of shots WAY too quickly, and then enemies take multiple hits to kill and are not likely to drop more energy. This means that you run out of shots without killing anything, thereby not getting more energy to shoot more. As that is a main mechanic, it might as well just be called "Jump Man" at that point.

It does play well otherwise and is as fun as any other infinite runner.

If I understood correctly, you are the author of this 8-bit engine in which you made your game. If that's the case, it is extra cool and I am very impressed. The visuals in your game are very nice, I liked it a lot. But actual gameplay feels a little bit boring and as another people mentioned, your player dies on edges.

Wow the artwork is on point man! GameBoy style art felt really nostalgic. Only thing that held me from playing it was the fact that I kept falling in a ditch upon respawing. I feel like respawining could be done instantly so it doesn't stop the flow of the game. Also kudos for the nice itchio page.

Please do checkout my submission as well!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I've been trying to track down some of the bugs, the worst being an issue where if you play the game long enough the player gets out of sync and just randomly dies. The respawning into empty pits is an issue too but that is a flaw in how I designed the game during the jam. I think in th next version I'll just restart the game from the beginning or come up with a better way to detect when to respawn the player after a pit or enemy is out of the way. Sort of torn on how to address these issues.

There was a lot I wasn't able to get to. The original idea was to make this turn based but I ran out of time and just left it as an endless runner. I'm going to keep plugging away at trying to fix some of these bugs that make the game "unwinnable" but in the spirit of the jam I don't think I'll make the update. I'll be releasing the cleaned up source code in the next release of Pixel Vision 8's Game Creator Pro (assuming I can sort these issues out). I'm glad everyone likes the art and the look and feel. Even after years of LD I still have a lot of work to do for level design and finding the time to polish before the deadline.

This is a great showcase of the power of PixelVision! The mechanics are extremely fun and cohesive. I hope you're able to clear up the bugs to finish out this submission!

Such great art in this game! The music become a bit much after a minute or two, and I did have some frustration when the game decided to spawn me directly to my death. But other than that, this game was well done and has a lot of potential!

I enjoyed this. Loved the art, music and gameplay. Got around 600 score or so in a few tries. Only gameplay issue that bugged me was what you can die being on the edge of a ledge. Should probably just let the player cheat and hang over the edge 1 unit before dying? All the core elements are here to make a great little action runner for mobile or whatever. Generally speaking you can make whatever bug fixes you want, as long as you call them out. I just refreshed the page when it bugged out and played again. Great work on the game.

Art is beautiful. Weird having the A button to start instead of one of the ones you use to play the game. Unfortunately neither of the main things, jumping and shooting feel good and satisfying. The shooting SFX sounds really dull too. Respawning over pits isn't great either. Very keen to try out the engine at some point though. Hope you fix this up a bit!

Aw yeah, lemons!

I really like the graphics in this game, really nostalgic for me. I found that the controls were a bit counter-intuitive: press A to start the game, but then X and C to play it? Seems like X or C would have done a better job. And for that matter, I've usually seen games like this to use X and Z for their input. I was going to list some other complaints but it seems like you're already aware of most of them and are looking into them.

Awesome graphics and sounds, I loved them. The control scheme could be improved tough, if feels strange to restart pressing 'A' instead of 'R' for example.

Congratulations on the project!

Very awesome graphics and audiom but I am very confused why I kept dying. After a little while, when I pressed X, I would die. It got very annoying. Sometimes it would not happen, but it happened most of the time.
