Jump N' Shoot Man Ludum Dare 41 by jessefreeman
What happens when you take one of the best platformers ever created and strip away the ability to move or stop? You get Jump N' Shoot Man! He has two abilities, jump (X key) and shoot (C key).

Make your way through endless waves of randomly generated levels to see if you can get the best high score.

Watch out for 3 different enemies, exploding spike balls and bottomless pits.

You will have to manage your health and energy meters wisely and keep on the lookout for refueling pods dropped by defeated enemies.

The fun never ends... literally, the game will keep generating new levels as long as you are willing to play!

Please note, the HTML5 version is there for people that don’t want to run the game locally on their computer. There are some known issues with sound and performance depending on the browser. For the full experience, please download one of the desktop builds.

It does play well otherwise and is as fun as any other infinite runner.

There was a lot I wasn't able to get to. The original idea was to make this turn based but I ran out of time and just left it as an endless runner. I'm going to keep plugging away at trying to fix some of these bugs that make the game "unwinnable" but in the spirit of the jam I don't think I'll make the update. I'll be releasing the cleaned up source code in the next release of Pixel Vision 8's Game Creator Pro (assuming I can sort these issues out). I'm glad everyone likes the art and the look and feel. Even after years of LD I still have a lot of work to do for level design and finding the time to polish before the deadline.
I really like the graphics in this game, really nostalgic for me. I found that the controls were a bit counter-intuitive: press A to start the game, but then X and C to play it? Seems like X or C would have done a better job. And for that matter, I've usually seen games like this to use X and Z for their input. I was going to list some other complaints but it seems like you're already aware of most of them and are looking into them.
Congratulations on the project!
