Let me know in the comments if you have beaten the game, it is old-school hard without coffee ;-D

Unfortunately, I'm not even sure how to run the game after downloading. There is no .exe contained inside the zip.

Edit:
Game works great now, really liked it! Only thing is I felt the theme was a little backwards. Instead of being harder the more you have, it becomes easier. Still really like it though, good job!

Digging the aesthetics and sound, but I couldn't really figure out the controls or objectives?

Hi I fixed the download (hopefully).

@keke sorry I missed time to add a tutorial/screen with controls.
Just updated the page to give you some hints.

@derek-brouwer The archive is fixed. You can redownload or just rename the file to .exe :D

@stateoff Thanks! Just replayed it. Controls are smooth and I like the effect when the caffeine kicks in, haha.

Damn, this looks really neat but I can't seem to get it to run on 32-bit Windows.

It's wonderboy on caffeine! And on the gameboy! I finally beat it! Excellent job on the animations and mechanics. It's infuriating yet satisfying :P

A tutorial at the start would be great! The game is too hardcore for me. I wans't able to beat it. I end up at 3rd coffe :), but the game was fun. Overall a pretty good game. (PS: I was totally stuck at the start I had to look up the controls.)

I like the concept of the game but the coffee mechanic breaks a bit the game flow. You have to w8 for the character to drink so you can jump after. The graphics are really cool ;)

Loved the graphical effect when you drink more coffee! Really nice aesthetic and sound effects.

@Hertz14 I finally was able to upload a windows 32-bit version. Thanks for your patience. Cheers!

Thank you @spaceturtle and @flerokoo

The folks at my favourite cafe were excited, too!

Great little game! Well done! I found it unintuitive using a for jump, I think up arrow would be better.

This was a really fun game! It was tough, but the fairly frequent checkpoints and relatively quick turnaround time between death and revival make it fun instead of frustrating. If I could change one thing, I would like for your energy not to be depleted simply by standing. It takes away a little bit of the challenge from the game, but it would make me feel less bad about sitting and waiting for the moving platforms instead of jumping at the wrong time and dying. Nice work!

Cool to see more games in Godot! Also cool to see games with this palette, I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. The whole aesthetic is great, really love the running beat under the game.

The coffee mechanic is definitely cool. In a sense, the "more" of this game is waiting, since often waiting too long for the perfect moment means you're out of coffee :(

I'm with @flerokoo on this... This is my life.
I really like this game. I couldn't finish it, going from 3 to 4 just infuriated me, but the game is awesome regardless.

Traverse an apocalyptic urban hellscape run by rabid dogs with the aid of nothing more than a cup coffee? I did not know I needed a game like this. This was pretty great if a touch frustrating at points.

"A" (on the keyboard) was an odd choice for jump, I kept hitting the wrong button.

Also, does the wavey effect continue to build after death? It seemed like continued attempts resulted in more waveyness. Speaking of the waveyness, was that done with a CanvasModulate node?

The graphic is good.

Beat it! Took me quite a few tries going from 3 to 4 but I found 4 to 5 easier. Those damn moving platforms though lol. Was a fun game overall, the aesthetic is great.

After a few tries I managed to beat it but, yeah the difficulty curve is pretty steep. Love the art, sound and the concept was pretty fun.

It's a cool game. I do love coffee so the title is relatable :D and I love the way you used the theme and made it so you get more coffee but the screen wobbles more and more.

This is an interpretation of the theme we discarded during brainstorming, so it's fun to see an actual game made out of this! :) Really good job on the graphics and animations! Good progress gating at the first coffee shop!

I didn't make it to coffee shop #3 in a few attempts. The music loop is annoyingly short. Movement felt very abrupt and not really satisfying.

Thank you for uploading a 32-bit version to cater to cavemen like myself! I had a craaaazy bug though where the Win32 version played upside down, which was mildly amusing to try to play before I realised I can flip my display to make things easier :D

Absurd bugs aside, I really like this game, you seem to have a knack for perfectly evoking gameboy-like visuals and sound, and the unified theme is really nice. The music is catchy as hell and I have a bit of an ear worm with it right now, I can't stop humming it to myself. That's gotta be a good sign right?
In terms of concept the game is solid and sadly very relatable. Also pretty difficult, but the satisfying mechanic keeps it from getting overly frustrating. Implementation of the theme is subtle but it's there, so that's nice to see as well. Overall a very nicely tied together game, very satisfyingly retro. Nice job!

@hertz14 Thanks for taking the time to play it and give this wonderful feedback.
I am very sorry for the display problem. It might have to do with graphics car drivers though, at least all the machines I tried looked ok. I have a strong feeling has to do with the shader.
Anyhow thanks for going through the pain just to play it.

@epb9000 The wave effect is a screen shader in a CanvasLayer. I use the layer for the gui as well but the last effect is the distortion.

The shader goes through 3 phases and interpolates through them. Check out this blog post:

Fun take on the theme, liked the way you used the coffee as a gameplay mechanic. The shader you used as you drink the coffee was effective.
