First noticed you guys when you made IceMan, that crazy jump-dodging flip-upside-down game. Now I make a point of checking out your offering because you reliably deliver a tight, to-the-point arcade action game that's really tough but has a mental layer to the design that makes me think.
I love the way this one lets me create my own problems. I experimented with randomness and systems of patterns, with constant streams and short bursts. At one point I was like "hrm I don't seem to be punished by failing to get blocks!" But then I realized how I quickly run out of space if I don't. I was stuck at about 15k for a bunch of tries until I felt like I had peeled back the layers, and got a more solid score.
Oh and one tiny touch I was glad to see: I don't get insta-gameover if I eat a quick run of hits in a stream. Nice.
I still think I did some dumb stuff that got me killed and a much higher score is possible but that was good for now.
Another really tight package with feel and hidden depth. I was very glad to see you had your sound crew present for this entry, and it came out great. I missed that in the demon-head lane-racer game.
Well done.
Solid entry
A minor point, but I do think having some form of invincibility frames for a duration would make this game a tad less punishing. Right now sometimes you feel punished for one mistake when you get hit by a billion shots at the same time. It does keep the game short though so maybe it's more of a preference thing.
Anyway super great job!
It seems very polished, to be honest. If you're looking to expand/elaborate, I'd love to see your take on breakout "power ups" with the twist that the upgraded projectiles come back at you :)
Thanks for the game!
The oldscool graphics and sounds are on point and the difficulty has an addictive ramp to it: generous enough with pickups, forgiving at first and increasingly difficult as it goes on.
But everything looks good. Well done
Got 45,100 on second try. Didn't really feel like giving it a third try. Perhaps because of quite long time of a single run and relatively slow progression/difficulty curve.
It was also a bit frustrating waiting for a repair to reach me, while there were also bullets coming right at me.
My game is also breakout, except crossed over with snake!
The controls are tight, the graphics are solid, the music is catchy and the sound effects pack a punch - everything about it just made me want to play more. It's a lot of fun to test out different strategies, too, to try and find the most efficient/least dangerous way of clearing blocks... so there's definitely a lot of reason play again!
Well done, guys. I could easily see this as a game on iOS/Android.
Edit: I should elaborate, because since I left this comment, I've been coming back to this game quite a bit. I think it's really impressive that you managed to take a simple concept and craft it into an experience that not only feels amazing, but is also surprisingly deep. I've probably played this game at least 50 times now and I still feel like I'm improving at it and finding new strategies.
Arcade shooter with break out, but the bullets you shoot become hazards to you. Brilliant! And the game been based on a score attack mode just sells the brilliance of the idea. Just a thing though: Aparently Break Out and Arcade Shooters goes really well together. I have a felling the best games of this jam will have this for a pet-peev...
We have an unfinished game if you want to check it out. Dino Multiplayer.

Love the idea! Very simple and clean!
Music is awesome too!
Everything just fits. Great arcade feeling.
I had a really good time playing. !! Now some bonus stones and a boss made of blocks !!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
