Burn by irwatts

[raw]
made by irwatts for LD36 (COMPO)
You got some fire, and some plants ready to combust. They might be a danger to the nearby village in the future, so you should go ahead and do a controlled burn now.

The fire spreads faster as more plants catch on fire, so getting enough clumps ablaze is required to truly make progress.

Controls:
Best played with mouse and keyboard, but gamepad works outside of menus.
WASD / Gamepad Left Stick - Move
Mouse Left Click / Gamepad Right Trigger - Lower torch
Space / Gamepad A - Jump
Esc / P / Gamepad Start - Pause

Known Issues:
-UI can get occluded by geometry upon death. If you plan on dying, try to not be inside a plant.
-Gamepad doesn't work with the menus. Woops.
-You can jump in the menus. Purely cosmetic, but please try to refrain from jumping for orders sake.

Let me first say that the game looks really nice! However, I think that the gameplay gets too repetetive quickly. Also sometimes the burning did not work even though I thought I was close enough at the grass.

The graphics are certainly nice, and the basic idea is interesting, but it's frustratingly easy to light yourself on fire and the lack of infinite spread is a little disappointing.

Maybe I'm just a pyromaniac, but if I light one piece of grass in a big field like that on fire, I expect to see the full field burning!

Good work, none-the-less.

Wow really cool idea. Not too difficult but requires some brain work. I like how the game really focuses on the theme and has cool graphics. Overall really cool game:]

I actually spent a decent chunk of time playing this. It's less of a game and more of an exercise in futility, though ;). Nice graphics!

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge. We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

After 2 min running in circles and not knowing what to do something killed me and after that my PC. Some rocks and walls dont have collision detection and everything looks glitched.

Good to see an other UE4 game. :) The idea is great behind it, although I couldn't even reach 1% because I always burnt myself. :D

Has a nice dark atmosphere with the distorted music and the theme of destruction. The player is way to sensitive to fire though and I feel like fires takes way too long. I want to run like a fire god through the fields but instead I have to wait patiently like a fool. There's some cool dark story waiting to be told here.
