Bum Bag Bangin' by DuzzOnDrums
Oi Oi!
Headin' to work, geezers be starin' green with envy over yours truly. Got me a new codpeice, a bum-bag banger. Turning heads like no other, the pack on ma fanny drawin' eyes like a well fit bird.
And now I'm in trouble, head's swellin', seein' double. Let me through, let me through, I can take a complement or two, but this is ridiculous. I got less than minutes, and every second me ballsack-rucksack's drawin' mad crew.
It's bad news for the ego of a wizard like me bro. Let's go Let's go Let's go!

HOW TO PLAY - Run as far as you can, avoiding complements, too many will go to your head! - Up/Down - move - Space - shoot

This fantastic. You guys succeeded in what I was trying to do: take a simple game and cram it so full of style and charm that you make something special. Without being too self-deprecating, I missed the mark a bit this time, but you guys hit it with the writing, voice-acting and level and character designs.
Bravo.
The presentation of your game is fantastic! And the game is amazing as a whole.
The only thing I didn't like is that I found its kinda repetitive, maybe you could add 1 or 2 spells/attacks and scale the difficulty. But in my opinion the mood and concept of the game were flawlessly executed, good job!
It's a very creative game, but the game-play could be a little more complex with the addition of something like power-ups. The game gets a little too impossible after a while, haha.
Definitely a high-light so far!
A very original idea.
Boom from the start I'm blown away by the artwork popping out, the 2.5D is setup without a hitch.
Then the voice over comes in and the vibe is set.
Then the gameplay begins and I'm loving these characters, their animation, the things they say and the words above their heads, I almost don't want to kill them because I want to hear it play out.
Gameplay is tight. Quality is consisitently high. Concept is brilliantly dumb.
Well done.
Totally agree with above comments. I would have loved to see how you would have handled other shooting types or more enemy types. I guess thats all i would want from this game; more.
The atmosphere is really well set up, lively beat, It would have been really awesome with more enemies, or something more challenging. But I know that everything was also a matter of time challenge.
Oh, the only "disappointment" I have is the font you used for the title ^^
It just feels impersonal compared to the whole game. In other words, very very pleasant entry.
EDIT : if the "text" display was flying towards you like a bullet you could dodge, it would make the game complete as a so very pretty shmup !!!!
I also played your version 1.1 and I it's now much more enjoyable.
Great work.
It feels now better when you have many enemies to shoot and the screen shaking is well done.
But I think the movement is have a specific destination like a boss at the end of the level
or a highscore you have to reach.
I hope I will see more? :D I love it!
This was a lot of fun. The mechanics were really basic, so it wasn't like omg what gameplay, but the art was excellent and even more importantly it was brought alive with nice animations and effects and of course that great voice work. It was awesome that you had a nice variety of lines and that it backed actions of both the enemies and the player. Music did a sweet job of keeping the audio on grounded footing without getting in the way.
If I could add one thing it would be a score/distance shown to me on death.
Also, good grief that is a horrifying painting; I hate looking at his face but find it hard to look away.
Nice entry!
Gameplay was a little simplistic, but everything else about this was top shelf. Art, animation, voice acting... maybe the most personality of any LD game I've played.
I loved all the people "filling" my ego with their sayings. I was laughing by the end.
Unless I missed it, I didn't see what more score or time was. I waited for a bit after my head exploded expecting a "end" screen but didn't get one. Maybe I didn't wait long enough.
Overall a very enjoyable and solid game. Fantastic job.
@pkenney Ha ha, yes I was trying to channel the Streets writing those lyrics, listening to the Original Pirate Material album over and over :D
BUT... The gameplay itself is very lacking, there doesn't seem to be much more to the game than to shoot everything in sight - hitting obstacles isn't very interesting either. Eventually I realised that since shooting is free (as in, no downside to shooting), why not just keep shooting forever... And that means I randomly hit half the targets, and the other half isn't hard to hit. And it could go on for like EVER, and that was no fun.
The game doesn't seem to get harder then, at that point. I would have liked to see something that made the big head affect the game so the gameplay feel changes over time.
Where's the bit where everyone's running behind you? Didn't see anything that looked like that in the game.
Controls worked great and the theme connection was implemented quite literally, which was a good detail, but the gameplay itself was pretty simple. However, as others have mentioned, surely this can probably be improved easily.
Congrats!
The humor is awesome! I chuckled at some of the stores in the background, as well as some of the compliments. And the growing head thing too.
The game is simple but is very polished and has a lot of attention to detail. Good job!
The post jam version gets more crowded, it's a nice adjustment!
And the animation, mmmm, just pleasant to look at!
P.S. Additional compliment to the guy who made voices. Nive job!
