Hi there, I'm in o/

I was supposed to have a team, but everyone left.
So I think it's a good opportunity for me to try alone this time ^^

My weapons:
* Unity3D / VS studio 2017
* Unity Cloud Build
* Paint.net
* MagicaVoxel
* Github
* Lot of coffee

Except that, it's time to wakeup and start

Good luck everyone!!

Hi there, LD40 finished.

Really happy by what I managed to released alone. Definitely not a GOTY, but something quick and fun to play, exactly what I wanted ^^

The dev part was fine, but my lack of artistic skill was quite challenging. Those three days were really intense to me and I'm totally exhausted.

I hope you will enjoy the game o7

Aesthetically, the game is great. The art is well done and the game has a ton of polish like arrows indicating where unhappy citizens are, and great audio cues for things that need your attention.

Gameplay-wise, it's pretty easy and unbalanced, but that's totally normal for an gamejam game.

Overall, I was really immersed and enjoyed playing it :)

Yes, I got few difficulties to balance it.

My first testers were not really gamers and maybe this pushed me to make it slightly too casual ^^

It looks really nice, and sounds great too despite it just being a bg loop and some sfx. The gameplay is fun enough, though doesn't have a lot of replay for me. I enjoyed it, nice work!

Hello I just played this for 15 minutes in Chrome and I really enjoyed it, reminded me of classic Bullfrog Titles like Theme Park and Dungeon Keeper, albeit with a lighter mood than the latter.

I thought the graphical style was slick and well presented and the UI / UX was smooth, and felt seamless and light. I felt it had a deceptively simple game mechanic on first play, and it has real replay value, I found myself wanting to play it more and explore more of what the mechanic delivers when you develop the town to a certain level.

It was surprisingly easy to lose relatively fast on the first play I found but once I understood what the game was about it became very intuitive and enjoyable. A really slick and fun game which I would play again.

Highly polished!

So I played couple rounds, tried different strategies and stuff. The game is really polished, I like that.

In a run where I finally thought I did alright (220s, 5768 score), it still said "I am slightly disappointed". Should I aim for bigger score? Am I playing it wrong?

@Nick-Rafalski Why do you think it is easy? What is your best score? And what makes it unbalanced?

@boltkey yep at the end this line is hardcoded, I was planning to have different messages and gameover sounds based on the score, but finally I skipped this feature ^^

It's part of the long list of skipped features:

**Design**
* More props (tree, vending machine, lights, bench, ...)
* Animated props (cat, rabbits, birds ...)
* Clouds

**GamePlay**
* Building level system (like a tower defense)
* Building renovation (they break after a certain time)
* Dying citizen (a new one is spawn in the house with different needs)
* Popular people (big one with a x2 bonus, who can recover or destroy your popularity)
* Tax system (to reduce the amount of money over time)

**UI**
* Mini map
* Slow motion to focus on a particular citizen with notification message

**Controls**
* Right click to change building faster

And many more ...

Howdy! So here's an interesting bug, I started the game up and then got distracted for a moment before I pressed start, and then as soon as I started the game, I hit a game over screen lasting for 600 seconds even without actually playing. I think part of the game scoring or timer starts as soon as the game runs, not when you actually press the start button and get control. Also this game

Besides that the game looks great. It makes sense, though initially I built a few buildings too away and had issues, so as a suggestion, a radius of influence on the buildings when dropping them would be nice. It does ramp up pretty quickly, and you end up with an overcrowded map with people that can't be satisfied. As a suggestion if you pursue this, it may make sense to provide spaces that cannot be taken by house, and be able to build over spaces.

Despite those criticisms, this is a very polished looking game that was quite fun to play. Great job.

Best score was 5864 after 191s.

Looks and feels polished for a jam game. Lacks some player feedback elements as other have suggested already.

Just wow. Absolutely polished right from the title screen. Only possible gripe, is that I'm not sure how I feel about a mechanic where the camera doesn't move fast enough to track the city's needs ... and also houses can't be demolished. But I guess that's how being a real mayor would feel! Excellent pacing and the idea of a time-attack version of SimCity is just brilliant. Gorgeously execution.

Very nice game you made there. The camera controls are very nice and the gameplay is challenging yet not too hard. I really like it!

That game looks beautiful! Loved the look, the feel, and had fun as well!
I just read one of your comments and also like the direction you would have taken the game in if you had more time.

Awesome game! Very smooth and pretty, and the gameplay is short, fun, and hectic.

Ummm... I broke it?? score - 10948 and exactly 300s time.
I guess it's time limit because happines gauge was about 40% full.

So I build 2-3 of each building BEFORE actual demand and fill all the space. After that new demands was really rare: 1 or 2 per minute. So I simply wait for my score to go up...

Fast and entertaining game with a lot of potential. Only one issue: what i can do when all the slots in the city are occupied?

I liked the concept of a simple city building game, but I had a few problems with the execution. The camera move too slowly and a zooming in and out would be extremely helpful. The demands timers starts running down too quickly so you start plotting buildings everywhere, as fast as you can, and suddenly there is no room and your city crumbles. I tried a few times with different strategies, but I always got the same result: the city was filled and I had to watch while it crashes down. The graphics and the presentation are top notch. For a one man show, you did a lot in 72h, and it's hard to balance a game is so little time. Keep rocking!
