Meteor Shower by bekovski

[raw]
made by bekovski for LD 42 (JAM)

You are standing on a platform upon which meteors are falling down. Every meteor that hits destroys parts of the platform, so bit by bit you're running out of space.
That being said, you can repair those holes and pick ups give you boosts to aid you in your survival. Half of them are bad for you, though.

Controls:
WASD or arrow keys to move
Esc to pause the game
Space bar to create a tile

Unfortunately the game has a bug which makes the level collapse, and I probably cannot fix it in the remaining time, and there are a couple other mistakes, but I'm happy with the result (and the process) nonetheless for my first game jam.

I used Unity for this. Some of the audio files I created on my own by using as3sfxr, some were taken from Unity's asset store. The UI elements are also taken from the asset store ("Unity Sample UI").

I think the link may be broken!

I won! Pretty cool?! Good SFXs, not entirely sure what was going on some of the time (like the lasers). Was cool when all the blocks started to float away - think I won right before I would've fallen?

Yes, the thing with the floating level is a bug I didn't manage to get fixed, hence only 30 seconds so that you actually have a chance to reach the end of the game.

I believe we are allowed to fix bugs for a week or so, so maybe I'll try to fix that up. Not entirely sure though, because I have a deadline this sunday.

Fun game, pretty sure you can win without placing blocks but that's cool.
Level does start to break toward the end though - managed to get my player to float upward.
Nice job.

Graphics were awful, i loved it. XD
Game idea is solid, camera angle could do with some work. But i think this was a great entry.

Since you did it alone, good job.

Solid entry.
The control scheme was abit unintuitive at first.

Congratulations on finishing your first jam!
