I don't wanna die by Eduard Xue

[raw]
made by Eduard Xue for LD 43 (JAM)

In 2081, an unknown zombie virus broke out, turning the cities into chaos in almost no time. The surviving humans had no way but keep runnning towards Eden, the uninfected area of the continent, praying that they would live to see the sunrise tomorrow...

You are the leader of a survivor squad. Although it's the first time you’ve met, the desire to survive brings you together, and the reason you've become the leader seems to be nothing but their trust in you. Again and again, you narrowly escaped from the zombies, but luck would not always be with you. A group of zombies are now after you, and obviously, they are much faster than you. Now, as a leader, you are facing a difficult moral choice - unless you sacrifice a teammate as the bait, you will all be overwhelmed by the tide of zombies sooner or later, but neither can you endure their desperate wail when bitten by zombies nor their doubtful eyesights when witnessing your betrayal. To worsen your despair, the abandoned city before you is chaotic so you have to rely on your teammates to deal with the obstacles and rescue more survivors from time to time to make sure that you can survive...微信图片20181204105501.jpg微信图片20181204105504.png

The game is awesome with creative ideas, I love it!! But it will be a little difficult for the player without mouse. All the setting, characters, background music in this game are perfectly match! I appreciate your work and this game deserve more people to know it!

I found it a little difficult to let go of the cards when and where I wanted to, like there was a cooldown or something. Not a fan of that aspect.

The premise is great though, as are the visuals. Good job!

@kloscunha There IS a cooldown time of every card, representing you are persuade that person. Maybe we should reduce the cooldown time so that you guys can have a more smooth experience. Thanks for your comment!

The graphics and audio was really good, and so does the gameplay. It was an interesting idea, but I have to admit it was hard to understand how to play the game at first, but once you do, it's actually pretty easy to beat.

Edit : My bad, I didn't see the instructions on this page !

Love the art and character design! The controls are a bit frustrating. Maybe the cards should be playable without delay to make for a more dynamic gameplay? Overall great potential!

Visual and audio are top notch! Gameplay wise, it was kind of cumbersome to pick up cards. I wanted to sacrifice someone, but when i placed the card it said that the zombies are not here yet. Then i picked one again and tried to place it on the zombies, but they were already close and so i died. The delay in pickup is a bit frustrating to me, i died sooo often. An indicator that my drag position is actually valid would be great. Good work overall! :)

Absolutely astounding pixel art - That zombie horde is especially amazing. I found the "controls" a little awkward, took me a few tries before I realized that you had to hold your mouse on a character for a couple of seconds before you could use them. I would have preferred if the overall pace was a bit slower, and if there was a bit of character dialogue going on during the chase.

These nitpicks aside, this was a jam game, and for that, you did A+ work in the time limit you were given. I really love the overall design choice of characters as cards, it fit the theme PERFECTLY, and I just found the concept incredibly innovative.

I hope you work on this more in the future. Well done team! :rocket: :rocket: :rocket:

Woo a fellow giant team, and looks like your first LD too? I thought the game is very coherent despite how many cooks were in the kitchen, you must've had pretty strong direction right off the bat. I really loved the concept and was surprised I've only seen 2 games involving sacrificing to zombies to slow them down. I think with a few more event types in the game to force hard decisions on the player the game could really take off.

I didn't like the controls, it takes too long to get the card ready. But overall it's very nice.
