ABOUT:

Made solo during LudumDare 39.

the theme was : Running out of power.

Battle Bois a game about controlling a swarm of little creatures that are constantly needing to eat star-shaped rocks for power. When they run out of power they become weak and can be defeated by the enemy easier. The player's star power is constantly draining.

CONTROLS:

W,A,S,D :

Move Player Character

Cursor:

Your units follow the cursor. Right and left mouse button presses select and deselect units. Holding down the mouse press changes the range of the selection and how spread out the Boi units are.

Scroll Wheel:

Zoom in and out.

Escape:

bring up menu.

I did all art & programming & Sound effects in the jam version. I also don't do programming too often, I mostly do the art side of things ... despite this I gave solo ludumdare jam a shot anyways ! hope you enjoy~

this game was a very enjoyable short experience, it reminds me of pikmin.

I love these bois! The game was fun and looked gorgeous and so cute but the controls were a bit of a pain and the tutorial was probably a bit confusing. All the art was amazing and the theme was dealt with in a pretty interesting way. Overall a good game. I really enjoyed it and you should be proud of what you have achieved!

I was a little bit confused playing the game, but the visuals are real good! I like the sound effects too. How could you not think the bois are adorable :) Great Job!

Great as always Valmay! So sad to see the bois die one by one :( I'm not a very good swarm leader lol

Quite charming! I really like the art direction and the flavor text. It's impressive how much you accomplished in 3 days time! As others have said, the game-play reminds me of Pikmin. Controlling your bois is fun, and works quite well.

My main problem is the game doesn't really have much in the way of challenge, you kind of just go through the motions until it's over. On-top of that, there's not much depth to really round out the experience. The theme kind of feels shoehorned in. Since you don't have any penalty spawning bois, you might as well create them as soon as you get energy, meaning the energy drain doesn't really effect you.

Although it's quite basic now, with added mechanics and features, I can see this game becoming something special!

I like this game! The targeting mechanic on the enemies wasn't exactly clear at the start but you could get used to it. This could be the start of something interesting!

Of all the games I played this was easily the prettiest. The mechanics were overall very solid and I felt like I was playing a completed game. I was dissapointed when I got to the end of the level and found out it was actually the end of the game!

Awesome game! I love the art style and it is a lot of fun marching with an army of little onions :D Like the sounds as well, but I missed a song to go along with it. Overall great game, nice job!

Funny game, reminds me of Pikmin a lot, wonder if that was an inspiration for you. Cute graphics, pretty innovative gameplay (at the very least among other games made for this game jam), solid entry. Well done!

Adorable game! Love the graphics and it's really fun to play as well. Only thing I felt it was missing was a cute song along with the gameplay - it would help a lot on the overall mood. Overall, really good job!

This game is adorable! All them bois! Loved getting a giant horde of them and just decimating the brad shooms! I would definitely play a full version of this game with more levels and mechanics put in there :D

Pretty game with good sense of humour. Gameplay felt a little slow in places but it was nothing major. The addition of music would be fantastic but the sound effects that are there are great! Overall a really nice game I'd love to see built upon.

Oooh! I didn't think it'd be possible to make a Pikmin style game during Ludum Dare. You've proven me wrong. I had a little trouble figuring out what to do, mainly because I didn't realize pressing "1" was how I got a Boi. From there they seemed to get creamed every time I sent them into combat.

I stuck with it, but I'm going to have to come back and play it a bit later. :D

The concept art (like on the title and tutorials) was really cute!:) In game graphics were also solid, I liked the feel of the environment and the creatures moving in it.

Unless I'm just not getting it, I think the gameplay needs improvement. I couldn't tell when my bois were going to die, so I just sort of sent them in there and prayed lol.

This game felt really good to play! It felt natural to control the bois and lead them into battle. It was worthwhile to tell them to target fire specific enemies and also to grind up a few more bois in the beginning before attacking. The graphics were absolutely adorable and amazing, almost like a finished game! Well done there. The facial expressions on the bois really gave them some personality. The audio was bit lacking, some music or more combat sounds would have added a lot.
