Weird but unique

I tried to play the game but it didn't work, crashed right away, no matter how many times I tried to run it it just crashed :/

Ok, What platform are you on? Get an error message? There are both 64bit and 32bit versions but the 32bit version has not been tested yet.

@Q-ro see above. I've experienced no problems myself but you might need at least a half decent graphics card for it to run and as I said not tested 32bit

@Hugmugi7 thanks very much, that was what I was going for, freaked myself out doing the 'voice acting' hhahaah but happy with the graphical style overall, the end was a bit of a rushed but pretty pleased with it overall.

I laughed pretty hard at most of it, but I couldn't understand one of them. The music was great for mood, but made could drown out their voices. I would have loved some text with it. Great entry!

@jfraser314 cheers, I presume you mean Mistress of the Wastes? hahah Yeah you are right, I should of modded the music a bit. It is meant to be tongue in cheek, though with a certain creepy element. Having some trouble getting on streams, apparently a bit too rated M for a lot of them hahaha

Some dude was on his stream and cancelled playing it because it featured the words penis and sex. ffs

Cool concept, definitly unique. The overlapping audio helps set the creep mode, and I felt bad for the robot lol.

Maybe make it more obvious that you need to talk to each one first instead of going straight for the sign in front of you, which seems to be the end.

This is definitely the strangest game I played since I started rating, I felt like in Hell for real haha

If I could give some interesting feedback, it seems overlaping is a bit game breaking as you seem to wait for the end of the phrase to be played to validate the answer so it is a bit weird.
Also maybe a text feedback for each phrase would be great.
Overall you have a really "good" (you understand why I put brackets :p) mood into this compo.

Also you just broke my record for the biggest game I've extracted for this LD (not for all my LDs since I already downloaded a 2Gig game :D)

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes there are some UI/ audio fixes I need to do, I had to rush that part at the end of the compo so had to leave it preety much half done hahaha. But will fix it up in a later version and indeed make the end point a bit more intuitive as many people have made that mistake.

I think the large file size is due to some of the textures which I forgot to compress as much as I probably should of done. It was a close one this year , submitted within the minute!!! First time doing the compo and it is a challenge to say the least.

I played several times and ran into repeated crashes after audio played for a while (64 bit version). I was able to interact with a couple of the daters. Some were very hard to understand with the audio distortion. It was an interesting, weird concept, though, and the 3-D environment was creepy and added to the mood.

This is an unique idea, I can see the concept behind it :-) Unfortunately I had some problems with the (mouse) controls and overlapping sounds, so maybe I could not fully get the desired experience. Also the download size is a bit large, but I think thats normal for the unreal engine.

Yes the sound element needs fixing, thanks for your comments everyone who's added more today. I will see to fix the sound issues, I know why it happening but I didn't have time to fix it before I submitted for the compo - just need to force stop the audio in the blueprint, but I was juggling too much else at the same time haha. Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad people are freaked out by the concept and like the 3D environment as I did put a lot of effort and thought into that within the timeframe. Yes Unreal files can often be larger and given more time I would have had more time to compress it down and trim baggage that wasn't required but as it was was withing minutes for submission (had a last minute random packaging error from a plugin which I wasn't even using)

Some of the audio distortion is intentional - but the overlapping sounds is something that needs to be resolved. The mistress of the wastes and the random turtleneck guy are distorted and randomised on purpose, that is why he is random and she is just a demon so given the old demonic weird pitching. The idea was maximum disorientation was the reason really haha but the overlapping sounds are making the game experience less polished so intend to fix that.

I died and woke up in this game.

@mrwillowb It is designed to freak you out and also to be a bit funny too. Haha hope you actually didn't die and ended up stuck in my game forever, now that would be a condemnation!!

@Indie Gaming Ahhh wicked nice surprise to see that this afternoon, Thanks for playing, it's interesting to see how people approach the game differently, think I need to implement better signposting for the player but didn't have time to fix audio issues in the 48 hours build timeframe. A very intriguing game which is well designed for the time-frame given. The background sound composition really amps up the disconcerting nature of the surroundings whose barrenness and desolation display an effective take on Hell. Some of the sound mixes for the potential partners (Subject 3, is such an example I believe) do add to the overall atmosphere of creepiness though sometimes at the sacrifice of comprehension. However, all of the 'Subjects' had a narrative voice of their own which serves to further distinguish an already unique game. Of course, there are technical issues which have been mentioned in prior comments but for the time scale given, this piece is interesting and innovative with its combination of genres which are thought to be incompatible and particularly through how these genres are combined in this case. Good work overall, it would be interesting to see what would happen should some more time be spent on this idea.

@DRead1 cheers! That's a a good and fair assessment. When time and net connection allows going to fix the issues with sound and enhance the concept a bit. (No internet properly still)
