I found it hard to tell how far ahead of the whale I was when I was doing really well, and it's a little quiet (although I enjoyed the "wenk" sound effect). Adding some Jaws-style music that gets faster as the whale closes in might help on both points.
The art is good it wil probably better with some animations.
It probably helpful to know how far behind is the whale when it get out of screen.
Overall, good job!
Felt really bad hitting ramps and losing *all* my speed, but it was fun! Had 4 penguins left when I hit that ramp, though, and just couldn't get going again.
Are you making this in a full game? Please do :)
I'll be taking all the feedback here into consideration for future projects and I can't state my appreciation that you all went out of your way to write up your thoughts! I will continue to read future comments so keep it coming, thanks!
I really enjoyed the game even though it's very simple. The controls were very tight and I liked exploiting the slopes and jumps to get more speed to avoid sacrificing penguins as much as possible.
Sound design is on point too btw :D
Also, sometimes the game throw a lot of ascending ramps in a row, and if you mess up on one, it can be impossible to get the speed to get going again.
However, I feel it fit the theme very well. I wanted to stack all the penguins, and making a sacrifice felt quite difficult.
