A meditative game about kinda weird theology

As mentioned above - the music and atmosphere is excellent. In my opinion - there is the seed of a proper "God Game" here - I'm thinking of games like "Populous" but with your addition of "the elements" and expansion.
I look forward to reviewing this and I hope you are able to pursue it further.
I hope you will take this game further.
Nice models nad music.
The motion of the player is a bit weird and jump a bit.
Great game. Good job!
"Get God!" echoes the command. God turns out to be a blue orb that does nothing, what a surprise! Later when you are instructed to destroy said god nothing happens to them, but the super helpful turtle bites the bullet. What is this, I don't even?!
The broken English doesn't make understanding this weird theology any easier.
Overall an interesting atmospheric experience, with some issues. Have a :milky_way::turtle:
In the spirit of addressing your other complaint, allow me to try and give you a narrative to explain the turtle's death. (Inasmuch as a narrative can be scraped together from panicked ramblings scribbled during the last few hours of LD) Consider this: the glowing orb you got during the game did only circumstantial work, uplifting some animals and giving them something to stare at in the night sky. Sure, it got the glory and the title, but when you consider who did the heavy lifting of making the world come together, you might be tempted to reconsider who the true god is.
(To be clear, this is in no way an expression of my own beliefs. But I'm sure you could chalk this up to symbolize any number of belief systems, if that's your thing.)
This game was beautiful. Absolutely relaxing.
I do wish there was a sandbox mode that let me be as big of a world as I can be!
Thank you for making such a great game.
Don't explain the end in the comments also :o So that everyone can have his own opinion about it.
I didn't understand the system with the water also? Is there a specific way of putting the tiles together? I just placed them randomly and it worked so...
Congratulations for your amazing game anyway !
Sounds are good, and the gfx was nice - the border of the space looked like it would be some border that can be "opened" if collecting enough hexagonal stuff, since there were objects beyond the limits where turtle is allowed to move. But looks nice.
As for it's mechanics it is really simple so I hope that If you want to expand on this you could give more weight to the gameplay aspect of pairing the ground to make life prosper because I felt that I won without even understanding what did I do right.
Hope this helps.
Great job, probably the best entry I've played so far.
Some notes:
- The movement is very slow, especially because for me 'god' spawned all the way back behind me. maybe we can speed up as we gain strength? Not sure, it might ruin the mood.
- The idea of building a worl on your back is AWESOME, but it didnt really pay off: i didn't feel like it mattered at all what kind of world I built. I can deifinitely see some fun strategy to be had there with the construction though.
- Music was good, and fit the mood vey well. Loop point is very obvious though
- It took me a while to figure out what's going on.
Overall a really strong entry. Great mood, great visuals especially. :D GOOD JOB
Perface game and perfect intepretion of the theme. Well done!
Can you explain me how you did the hexagon system that collide each other on the good side ?
I suppose running from source might lead to unexpected bugs! Also, I don't know how the guys with fancy video cards are getting on, but with my onboard graphics, this game runs pretty slow.
Having mentioned all that, this is lovely! I love the concept, the art is awesome, I didn't notice until much later that you can zoom in and out to peer at the "life", and I love all the ideas contained within! Beautiful!
I, too, kind of assembled hexes randomly without really considering height or heat or volcanos or water and I progressed and finished the game anyways. If this was meant to give the player tradeoffs to make, I didn't experience that.
I kind of wish it lasted longer. I saw all the giant pieces out past the largest orbit and got excited that I was going to have a Katamari Damacy experience where my turtle would grow larger and faster and my hex world would become huge and compex. But I accept that that may not be the narrative you were intending to guide the player along.
Another thing that could be improved is the visibility of the popup messages, it was hard to read the red text on a dark background so sometimes I didn't see it. Not sure if there was some more advanced strategy to the game but an in-game tutorial explaining how the different tiles affect the world might have been helpful. Anyway the game experience is really awesome and I'm impressed with the mechanics of the game. Excellent job!
Those things aside, I _love_ this entry, especially as a compo entry. I'm not 100% sure (I've not been keeping careful track) but this is probably the highest rating I've given to a Compo entry this LD.
Also, the first volcano I picked up was named "Fires of Armok", love that reference.
All in all, great job!
